    1. Regular season means jack as mental and game preparation is different: Teams don't focus in on one team, they have a couple of days to prep for a team, and then have to move on to the next, repeat 81 times. 4 games difference means very little over the course of 82 games. Instead, it's the ability of coaching staffs to zero in on the other teams and exploit mismatches over a period of 2 weeks. That clearly faces the playoff hardened JVG - who also knows how to mentally prepare his team.

    2. The playoffs favor physical, tougher teams, and this favors Gundy's brand of basketball over sweet shooting or atheltic players.

    3. Defense becomes more important in the playoffs. As the game slows down, run and gun offenses tend to begin tripping and it's the teams that can dig in on their heels and get stops that usually when the slower paced and therefore closer games.

    4. JVG will outcoach Avery Johnson - plain and simple

    5. While Dirk and T-mac will neutralize eachother's star power, Dampier will not neutralize Yao. Dallas simply does not have the low post presence to pound Houston inside. Houston has the ability to get inside and open up their 3 pt attack.

Dallas is like Sacramento. They've had they're chances so many time and failed, i believe it's lead people to hate them. Especially the compulsive gamblers.

Hey, what are you saying about me?

I would never bet on Dallas or Sacramento. I'm offended.

When did they have their chances? They had one year where they were tied for best record and got to the WCF. Thats it. The other years they weren't supposed to go anywhere.

JVG got out team last year (dribblemainia) to compete with the lakers (4 HOF-ers). If jj makes that 3 from the corner we win game one...if yao didnt forget to box out shaq on the last posession we would have one game 4. we should hae been up 3-2 in that series.

this year we are much better than last, and the mavs are not as good as the lakers of last year. we will win in 6 or 7. JVG knows playoff basketball better than anyone.

The reasons why the Rockets will beat the Mavs are the same reasons why many 'experts' say the Mavs will win.

    1. DEPTH: Okay so you have Stackhouse and Van Horn on the bench. Big freakin deal. They get as much production (point wise) out of their bench as we do (26 points from their bench and 27 from our bench). People keep thinking "oh Stackhouse can be a starter". Of course he can. And so can Clarence Weatherspoon. Stack's best days are behind him. Van Horn? When you factor in Van Horn as one of your positives, you are surely going to lose. Ask Iverson and Kidd.

    2. ROCKETS LACK OFFENSE: Averaging 95 ppg is not anything to scoff at...especially when you only give up 91 points. And people keep saying that our team is a defensive team that can't score. Those are the same people that stopped watching the Rockets after December. We CAN score as well as any team out there and we CAN play a grind it out game as well as any team out there. Can Dallas do the same? I don't think so.

    3. DIRK IS GOING TO KILL THE ROCKETS: I say let the man shoot. Let him hoist up 30 shots per night. Can he do it all by himself? Let him try. We can't stop one man but we can sure stop 11 others. Can the Mavericks say the same thing about us? What they doubt is that Yao can't be a monster down in the paint. Let them keep thinking that way. And when Yao destroys Dampier, I hope Yao demands the 2nd best center title back. Sura/James/Wesley/Barry are underrated defenders and outside of Daniels and Howard, who else do they have that can defend? Dirk? Finley? Finley USED to be a great defender. VAN HORN????

    4. AVERY JOHNSON HAS DEL HARRIS: So what? Don Nelson had Del Harris and they didn't win jack. Having Del Harris as an assistant is not exactly like having Tex Winter or Pete Carril is it? Van Gundy will out coach Avery Johnson every which way.
