the reason the rockets attendance has slipped is because we are not winning and we are not the only attraction in town. Houston also has the Astros, the aeros and the soon to be texans. If the rocks are winning the attendance will go up, if we are losing it will go down. Our fans are not the most loyal in the league. You look at situations like Indiana, San Antonio, and Sacramento. The reason their teams constanstly sell out games is because they are the only attraction in town.Look at teams with more at least 3 major sports teams in town and their attendance. Tha Atlanta Hawks have the braves and the falcons which explains the fact that when they were the 4 and 5 seed in the playoffs they had an embarrasing attendance at the playoff games. The Celtics are another example. Beantown loved em when they were winning but hates them when they are losing and they too have to compete with the redsox and bruins. The rockets are in a similar situation as these teams along with the fact that basketball is not that popular in the state of texas. Unless the rockets win, their attendance will continue to falter.

Well, Mr or Mrs Allie-Come-Lately you may want to back up a little to slow down that obvious derailment of thought.

They have had sold out performances for several years.

Your assumption is based on the first regular game, which also happened to fall on a Halloween (read: family) night.

Corporate sponsors have backed away a little bit from the Rockets this past summer. Simply put, siding with a transient political cause is corporate suicide. Minimally, it plays into a political stance that (in most cases) corporate entities tend to shy away from. Taking a stand. Maybe not admirable in all cases, but understandable.

Let's not call the cat drowned and drained down the tubes quite yet. You might want to make perfectly sure it isn't just treading water comfortably out of reach and getting ready to bite you in the arse.

Fan base in this city is broad and strong. I wouldn't underestimate us.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
