What head scratching moments have you guys seen in our play so far? Aside from the good stuff - and there have been many encouraging signs - I thought we could take a humorous look at some of the dynamics at play in 2011/2012 so far. I'll start: Why the eff do we... - keep playing Scola at the 5 when he is cupcake-soft and not inclined to play much defense anyway! - keep playing in these silly clown-uniforms when clutchfans members have designed multiple jerseys that look way better - get so knee-jerk on clutchfans.net and start sensationalist threads whenever player X has a randomly good/bad game
Whats the difference between a pick up game and style of games we play? Seriously? 1. Defense Going small isnt going to work. Never. No matter how much how well we score in offense the opposition will always score more. The defensive part of it will always outweigh the offensive part of things. The thing is we scored a bit by going small and McHale got a hard on. What he didn't realise is we wouldnt need to score so much if we kept Bynum in check. He got too many rebounds but some of those could have been converted to posessions for us if he played Sammy, Sam would have grabbed some of those rebounds himself and also deflect/tap away some chances to prevent Bynum from getting them. Not to mention he would have made it harder for Bynum to get good position. Right then and there we could have had a lead if we checked Bynum. And we wouldnt have to be playing catch up. Lakers would have been playing catching up. 2. Offense There is no well set, well established, professional level of an offensive scheme. Its simply take the ball up find the 1st open guy furthest away from the rim and pass it then cacth and shoot. Thats our offense!!!! What the hell is that? Thats not NBA, thats not even a playground level cause those guys can dunk. This is school level basketball mentality. Can our guys do anything but pass or catch and shoot? Does anyone besides Lowry know how to dribble the ball. No one can beat their opposition to score or even create an opportunity for someone else. They rely on passing and open looks to create scoring opportunities.
