    I know that steve will definatly re-sign this offseason.

    On saturday night i went to this underground basketball tourney thing sponsered by steve and cuttino. It was steves "we r one" houston all-star team versus cuttinos philly/nyc all-star team. Cuttinos team was featured on the and1 mixed tapes. It was awsome!! Cuttino and steve were coaches. Moochie, T Mo, Maurice Taylor, tierre brown, tina thompsan, and Lonnie Baxter were there too. They had a dj from BET and everything. The game was awsome!!! 10 times more entertaining than a rockets game. Then it got kind of boring when the houston team stopped playing d because the philly team kept embarrising them off the dribble. I am working on getting some of the pics my friends took and posting them soon.

    Anyway, the reason that steve will definatly re-sign...

    Steve and half the rox team are friends. they hang out together and have fun. He loves it here in houston. Hes going to be very rich and he gets to stay with all his boys in the city he loves. There is no way he doesnt re-sign this summer. the rox have his 3 best friends ( mooch, cuttino, and mo t) signed for 3 more years half our team is Maryland alums!! This team was created to guarentee that steve stays for 6 more years.

    That's because Jordan was too concerned with winning.

    I was there too! It was hilarious. Steve and Cat would taunt each other after their team scored or made a sick move (and there were dozens of sick moves), and the dj would yell, "Mooch! Get off the court! You ain't no coach!" when Moochie went on the court during timeouts. During the half, Steve and Moochie went on the court to try half court shots, and Steve's first attempt...BAM! Straight in off the glass.

    Ahh...it was great.

    I think Steve will resign this year, but for more personal reasons. If those headaches continue next year, they may very well affect his contract status and his ability to sign a long-term deal the next year. It may be in his best interests to sign a max contract this summer just to guarantee his future in case his headaches are career-threatening. :(

    I'm not saying that I dont want him to resign or that I dont think he'll resign with us but if he were to recieve a max deal from the Wizards I could see him signing with them.

    The game sucked A$$. The only good highlight was when And 1's A-Oh faked out the Houston guy and everyone laughed at him cuz he thought he passed the ball.

    i think you're probably right, major. although..it assumes that he even recognizes the possibility this could really cost his career. He doesn't seem to interested in taking the steps necessary to ultimately fix the problem.

    Steve cannot sign elsewhere if the Rockets offer him the max. The Rockets own the right of first refusal on Francis's contract. No matter what any other team offers him, the Rockets can offer as much or more. Francis would have no choice but to re-sign with the Rockets. This is quite similar to the Marc Jackson situation with Golden State. Since the Rockets' max offer is higher than other teams can offer, the only way Francis could play for another team would be in a sign-and-trade (of course, assuming that the Rockets would match the offer).

    Thats not how it works.....he can play for anyone he wants...he just cant make as much money anywhere else. He doesnt HAVE to play for the Rockets just because the offer him the max.

    The way he phrased his comments, he wasnt really referring to this summer's "restricted" status. He is talking about max contracts etc. The max contract doesnt apply to the Rockets 1 year option...it only applies to next summer...they can offer him the max, he just doesnt necessarily have to take it

    NJRocket--I think you may have misunderstood me. Of course, the Rockets have (and have already exercised) the fourth-year option on Stevie's contract. I am referring to NEXT summer, when he will be a RESTRICTED free agent. Contrary to what you might believe, Francis--and all the other first rounders of the 1999 Draft class whose fourth-year options have been exercised--will be restricted free agents after the 2002-03 season. This means that the Rockets will have a right of first refusal on ANY offer made to Francis by another team. And, because they can pay Stevie more than any other team could, there is no offer that would be too much for the Rockets to match. Much like the Marc Jackson situation (except that GSW could only match up to the league average, exactly what the Rockets offered him), Francis would have no choice but to re-sign with the Rockets if they offer him the max. There are only three other possibilities:
    1) The Rockets do not extend or match an offer for Francis (not gonna happen);
    2) The Rockets sign-and-trade a disgruntled Francis to another team; or
    3) Francis decides not to play in the NBA.

    Funny:D But come on, if Jordan was able to fit 6 rings on Pippen's figers he could have fit a ring on everyone one of Charles'. Malone, Stockton, Ewing, none of those guys will end with rings just like Barkley, that ain't bad company.
