over Houston 2 allstars ROY Veterans enough said so don't complain why Houston was not well coached and everything. alent speaks for it self. Maybe next year if Utah and portland fall of we can make the playoffs
Rockets had 2 All-Stars... Yao was more of a presence on the court than Amare most of the season as far as ROY year goes... The main difference was that Phoenix came together as a team and overcame a few key injuries, and executed against teams that they were supposed to beat.
When it counted at the end of the Season Amare outplayed Yao. Amare was playing better in the biggest games of the season and Yao was having his worst month since the beginning of the season. That's why Amare beat out Yao for ROY. Funny how Yao's dropoff coincided with Rudy's departure...
I'm not saying you are for sure wrong, but Amare seemd to dissapear at times to me as well. I'd like to see some stats, personally. Amare won ROY because the Suns made the playoffs, not the other way around
Because they played with more heart. They simply wanted it more because they were more focused. The Rockets didn't play with any desire the last 10 games that really counted. They played with more passion the last 3 games against sucky teams after we got eliminated.
That's what I have a major problem with. We got blown out by the spazz and trailgangsta's thereby eliminating us. THEN, we win the last 3 meaningless games. It's almost as if we tried NOT to make the playoffs.
I don't think the Rockets intentionally tanked down the stretch, although it did look like they quit on Larry Smith. But there's no question that a lot of guys on this team looked a lot more interested in starting their summer vacation early than playing a few more weeks in the postseason. The best thing Rudy or whomever is coaching next year can do is focus on removing these cancers from the team. If guys don't wanna win and are only concerned with their stats and/or paycheck, tell those losers to kick rocks. Bring in players who actually give a crap.
Phoenix made the playoffs because the Rockets pulled a massive choke job in late March and early April.
The team runs the same offense that we do. Marbury goes one on one and shoots or dishes. He is just better at the dishing part.
yao and amare are both going to be great players. i dont see what the big deal is there. if yao had played for a playoff team..... who knows. phoenix is an older team than the rockets. younger teams dont typically make the playoffs. we have all the time in the world. we dont need hype. if i remember correctly, we were always underdogs when we were winning those titles. ill take trophies over hype any day.
There's a huge difference between the two systems. Phoenix' offense has alot more movement. They DO NOT play one on one but run alot of pick and rolls. Our pick and rolls NEVER work right. We are just horrible defending and running that play.
I did see a certain much maligned all star point guard on TV the day after the season ended cleaning out his locker. He was laughing and joking around having a great ol' time showing off his golf clubs. It was a little disturbing to me...
