I would not mind seeing the ROX trade for Theo Ratliff from Portland. He is 6'10 and is a definite defensive presence that can play the PF and give the ROX a different dimension from what J. Howard and the other PF's on the roster brings. He is athletic and is only about 30 years old. He has had some injuries in the past, but I think being on a team that has the potential to win a championship will help him to work through some of the minor injuries. He can rebound and blocks shots like a mother!!!!

I dont think the Rockets want a PF that isnt mobile. I think we are moving away from the "brute PF" and to a more mobile, quick PF. Ratliff at this stage of his career is a C. We dont want Ratliff out on the perimeter chasing around Dirk, KG, Marion and people like that. That's why we are looking at quicker PFs like Swift, Marshall, SAR etc.

When did Theo Ratliff become a great rebounder? He's a tremendous shot blocker, but in 10 seasons, he's only averaged over 8 reb/game twice (8.2 & 8.3).

Last season, Ratliff averaged fewer rebounds per minute than Juwon Howard. Ratliff is way too one dimensional for the type of money that he's making.

Good post. Not to mention that he is pretty old and is due a large amount of money.

Ratliff has had the reputation of a good rebounder, defender, and shot blocker, but whenever I've watched games of him, he's just not that great. Sure, he blocks shots, but that seems to be about it. His salary if I remember correctly is way too high, and he's always injured.

Plus, I don't think Yao likes him. I've noticed in R2K's highlights that Yao will dunk on Ratliff and glare at him or scream. Actually, maybe that would be good for Yao, to develop some aggressiveness by continually battling with Ratliff.

Ratliff, at this point in his career, is a center.

And a backup center, at that.

Yup. He was pretty much getting outplayed by Pryzbilla for the second half of last season.

In Theo's defense, Pryzbilla had a MONSTER 2nd half of the season. Didn't we trade Pryzbilla for Langhi straight up?

No. It was Pryzbilla for collier and next years pick. we then packaged that pick for griffin.

we traded najera and a future first rounder for langhi (a second round pick)
