Since it's become pretty obvious that the dems are going to run Hillary in '08, why shouldn't the republicans run Condi Rice? She's more qualified than most governors out there that will likely throw their hat in the ring.

I would love to see Rice run in '08. She would even lose against Dukakis.

EDIT: Honestly, I hope that the GOP puts up someone with integrity such as McCain. Then I could go back to voting Republican with a clear conscience.

I'd vote for her, but I wouldimagine that Rudy or McCain are much stronger prospects at this point in time. A lot can happen in four years though. :)

You want a likeable candidate to be on the ticket and maybe Rice is but I relly think it's the time of either McCain or Rudy. Both appeal to moderates.
So again I think C. Rice is still young so she may be a VP candidate but I think unless something happens to Rudy or McCain it will come down to those 2.

Well Rice is one of the more dishonest members of the Bush administration, and hasn't really done such a good job as security advisor during the 1st 4 years.

I also disagree that it's obvious that the Dems will run Hilary in '08. It's obvious the media wants the democrats to run Hilary in '08, but she hasn't announced, nor have the '08 primaries started.

I don't see the Republican base getting too energized over a black woman. She's also the antithesis of charismatic.

After 8 years of Bush, you know the Democratic base is going to make a strong showing just like they did this year. Republicans will need someone who can get their base excited, and I don't see Rice appealing to the evangelicals. She has zero "down home" flavor, and I doubt she's a gun owner. Not saying the social regressives would vote against her, but they wouldn't turn out in record numbers, either, which is what the Republicans need if they're going to run a candidate so closely tied to the Bush administration. That's before you take racism and sexism into account; you can bet the Democrats would take full advantage of those things by running a white, male Christian against her.

I don't think the Democrats currently, in 2004, have anybody lined up that could beat McCain or Giuliani without some pretty extraordinary charisma. As a liberal, I could live with either or those two guys as president; McCain moreso. After Bush, they'll seem damn near cute. I think running H. Clinton would be a mistake by the Dems. She has the right name, but she's also vilely hated by the socially regressive Republican base the 'crats need to be apathetic towards the election to win. I've never particularly understood that venom, but I guess it's beside the point.

Rice is a weak candidate. Wouldn't have a chance. If one can find a way to get through the republican primary it's gonna be President McCain, or President Guiliani

    Rice, Rudy, Powell, McCain, Jeb....?

    Democratic:

    Edwards, Hillary, Obama....?

    Anyone open a "premature" poll?

Under Dems throw in B. Richardson, H. Dean and Evan Bayh (my personal choice)

Repubs - B. Frist (who might be the odds on favorite in the primaries as a fiscal and social conservative)

If Guiliani can get by Frist he WILL be the next president because he will win NY, NJ and Penn which Dems need to have a shot.

The reason I brought here up, I heard Dick Morris on the radio today (he's in town promoting his book) and he is very high on her. He also said Trent Lott is in her camp and thought Newt would be too.

All an opponent has to do is play back her testimony in front of the 9/11 panel. Not very impressive.

Don't rule out Rick Santorum running for the Republican nomination.

Hillary might make it out of the primaries. The far left love her. She would not win a national election. Alll red possible states would bolt red.

If Rice ran and won the nomination, the red leaning and some of the red states would come into play for the Democrats. For example, I just do not see Georgia Republicans voting for a black woman.

If he runs, he'll definitely win the primary. Nobody beats Santorum at gay hating.
