The Kings can only offer him 1.1 million dollars and I think he will be demanding alot more money. The Rockets can pay him 2 million. I would to see him in a Rockets uniform next because he is a good rebounder he is big and he is not afraid to do hustle for loose balls. It is my 30th post I am finally a member I am not a junior member anymore. ------------------
Well- SOlid post for your transition. I think Pollard would be worth the 2 mil a year and would use it on him also. He plays like a poor mans Austin Croshere, and at 2 mil a year, he is a poor mans Austin Croshere. ------------------ Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women!
How is Pollard a poor man's Austin Croshere? Pollard's offense comes completely from garbage points, while Croshere has a great perimeter game. I don't see the similarity. ------------------
Armen Gilliam is a free agent.....big, 6'9 and 260 lbs...... Would we be opposed to signing him on as an insurance policy? He'd probably score better than a Pig, but the knocks on him are that he's not half the player he was 4 years ago with New Jersey. With the youth movement, would he be a bad idea using the veteran's minimum? ------------------
Gilliam would probably rather play with a team that's veteran, or has a chance of winning the championship this year, like LA or Utah. Since when could the Kings only offer Pollard 1.1 million? They can also give him their 2.25 million exception, just like us. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
NIKE, I'm sorry but I don't think Utah has any chance of winning the Cahmpionship this year. I don't care how one-eyed a Rocket fan you are, Utah doesn't stand a chance to win it all. I'd give the TimberPups a better chance. ------------------ "He fouled me every single time I was over the rim ... I'm going to lift weights tomorrow and get my legs stronger so next time I play him I'll put it on his head five times." - Steve Franchise
Right on, Chuck! The Jazz are officially finished. The ship has been sinking for a couple years now (admittedly, VERY slowly) but now that rate is accelerating. They can't find anyone decent to play the 2 besides that rookie Stevenson, who I'm not completely sold on. The Jazz will finally fall, and life will make sense again. Oh, by the way, Gilliam is not the answer. On a team that runs the floor as much as we do, he cannot stand a chance. He is slow, not to mention crazy. Did you know he once locked his neighbor's dog in his basement for three days without telling his neighbor? He also put his food outside in the snow sometimes to keep it cold and save energy. The guy is definitely not an option, IMHO. ------------------ Jazzkiller
Scott Pollard would be nice if we could get him. Armon Gilliam isn't even worth discussing. Tyrone Washington would be about 8th on our depth chart. We need a real live NBA 4who can board and block shots, and can score the garbage buckets. Pollard definately fits that bill, and maybe the Kings would be willing to let him go for Bryce Drew since they are losing Tony Delk? j ------------------
Why are we talking about Scott "weird hair" Pollard? He wouldn't do anything for our team. Forget about Pollard, lets talk about somebody else.
The best part of landing Pollard is that it would make the Kings a worse team thus increasing our playoff shot. It would also increase the possibility of Webber looking elsewhere come next August if things did end up falling apart. Hey Chris, we got a nice 6 year max contract here waiting for you! ------------------
I know alot of people think I'm a moron for talking about picking up a Gilliam or a Perdue (an earlier thread I started), but I really think it's a good idea to have some sort of veteran big man insurance even with our youth movement. Both of these guys have had good careers as competent role players and I would like to pay the veteran's minimum to get someone like a Perdue or a Gilliam instead of spending our exception on a Pollard (who seems to be just a role player hitting his prime). We can save the exception for someone better (Maurice Taylor maybe? A long shot I know) especially with all the decent mid-level free agents left. ------------------
Pollard is a promising player. He can board and has some offense. He doesn't appear to have star potential but the Rockets don't really need that. He would be a good pickup if we can't sign someone like Mo Taylor. By the way the Kings signed Bobby Jackson who will replace Delk at PG. ------------------
"Tyrone Washington would be about 8th on our depth chart. We need a real live NBA 4who can board and block shots, and can score the garbage buckets. "-Silent J Tyrone Washington IS a guy that can board, block shots, and score the garbage points. NOw, he doesnt have much NBA experience, but why spend money on Pollard when you can have a guy that can do the same things but at a cheaper cost? Not only that, but Twash seems to be more athletic than Pollard also. And can Pollard even block shots? I've seen about 5 KINGS games last year and I havent noticed any blocking ability that Pollard may have. IN the end, I'd just rather stick with Carlos Rogers. He's the hustle guy that we need, plus he is a good guy in the locker room. If we HAVE to sign somebody, then get Twash. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.
Just thought I'd pass the news along since it is relavent to this post...Pollard re-signed with the Kings Tuesday to a multi-year deal.
