Celtics made the history by the 'big three'. Now every team wants to follow their pattern. But you don't win championship by following, so why not 'big four'? In reality, not every team has the cap room/incentive to do this. You should have at least 'big one' or 'big two' to start with. Then you'd better have some tradable assets and/or cap room to add one or two legit stars. Only very few teams in the league have the ability to do that. Fortunately rockets is one of them. We already have 'big three', and we are not paying luxury tax. We got some tradable assets in Steve, Head and 1 open spot on the roster. Originally I was thinking about adding a good backup center and adding/trading a good PG. But it's really hard to do that without sacrificing a lot of your own assets. It may be easier to trade for another 'star' no matter what position he plays if we are willing to pay a little luxury tax. One example would be Vince Carter, whose team is rebuilding and may be interested in Steve's contract and Head's 3 pt shooting(is he near the end of his contract also?).
rox is already over the limit. how do you reckon rox get vince carter? You need to change players of similar value( size of contract). Rafer, head and SF3 is not enough. And if you do get VC, where do you play him? SG, while moving tmac to PG?
If you want a big four then don't shoot for another ball stopper (Carter) but someone that can score without the ball. Players like Richard Hamilton and Mike Miller but like I said we do not have the assets.
If every team has a "big three" or "big four", then the word "big" needs to be redefined since it should only refer to the top 5% of players in the NBA.
they didn't have bynum last year. anyway, if we really wanted a big 4, or something close to it, we could always try to trade battier for someone, though i wouldn't exactly think that's the smartest thing to do. mike miller would be intriguing though.
What does Vince Carter add that we don't already have with Trady and Artest? It seems totally redundant to me. If you want to target a fourth star, it should be a PG.
I think we already have the big four.. Scola is a great player... He has a high basketball IQ and some great post moves... He may not have great athletic ability, but he is tough and will not give up.. He gives 110% when he is on the floor.. I greatly appreciate his efforts for the team.
The Knicks definition of 'big 12' is "the best 12 basketball players currently signed up for the New York Knicks".
Definition of a big 3: 3 Superstars on the same team. Example of superstars: Kobe Lebron T-mac AI Vince Carter Dwight Howard Yao Ming Tim Duncan CP3 CB4 Brand Nash etc. We MIIGHT need an all-star: West Jamison Josh Smith (on the rise to a superstar) Iguadola (same as Josh) Jose calderon Pretty much most of Portland Odom STEPHON MARBURY Peja Prince Hedo Hinrich So no we won't get a big four, but we can deal for a big 3 and half
Well.....the Lakers had the big 4 by reputation only....by that time Malone and Payton were well past their primes... The Glove had become more a holey mitten and Malone was a little slower (also got injured) than in his prime. We don't have the Big 4, but we can have the big 3 with "super friends" like Scola, Landry and Brooks.
