Trillions that have been approved to prop up large corporations and the stock market and the hundreds of billions, now in round 2 to support small businesses (even if some of the "small" businesses makes hundreds of millions and receive the maximum of $10 million in the PPE)

There are over 20 million and may reach 30 million or more, so the usual fantasy that everyone can find a job is not operative.

So why lead to the degradation of people having to wait sometimes in their panic without social distancing just to get food. Ok, some may not really need the food, but why should we give a **** about that minor scam compared to say Airlines using tax breaks just for stock buybacks.

I am reduced to thinking that the relatively amount in the billions required to hugely supplement the food stamp program and suspend the bureaucratic requirements (as was done during the immediate aftermath of Harvey) but has not been done for Covid 19) is not provided just to terrorize people and keep them so busy so they can't think about how bad the system is. This applies to those desperate for food or also that part of the population that is empathic or energetic enough to go and be volunteers at the food banks and food lines.

There are scores of food being sent directly to the trash heap because commercial and corporate suppliers aren't getting their inventories sold from workers staying at home.

It's more cultural than anything else.

This whole response gives me little hope for humanity and society moving forward. Responding to a pandemic SHOULD BE easy. If you cannot stop yourself from grifting even during a pandemic where 50,000 + people are going to die, what does that say about where we are??

Food stamps, and basic food and shelter for those who need it is small potatoes in bills like this that are coming in response. It's the ultimate representation of what is wrong with our governmental approach that is turbo charged by the Trumplican party aka Trump death cult.

People have been grifting on the back of catastrophic events forever just look at the grifters that come out after hurricanes.

    This is sadly nothing new.

Yeah, the culture of capitalism. Nobody disputes that there is an actual lack of food. We must be absolutely sure nobody waits dangerously in food lines and really does not need the food-- or even worse might barter with it for toiltet paper or a few dollars in cash.

Yeah, one of the greatest evils of all time people grifting for food. during a catastrophe. A millennial young woman I know gets paid to drive after school rich kids kids out to take care of their horses. The kids have remarked as they see folks begging at the stop sign: "mom says they aren't poor, they just do that for extra money and often time they have plenty of money." Are they your kids, by any chance?

    What?

I have no idea were you are going with this, why would you think I would tell my kids something like this.

Why do you think I am saying people are grifting for food?

I was talking about grifters like contractors who prey on people after hurricanes or like what is happening with PPE and hand sanitizer or black markets during war.

Do you just wake up looking for something to complain about?

There are a number of priorities that are screwed up in the USA. I will never argue against programs to feed those that do not have food.

And even pales compared to thousands of years of war profiteering, (I would darkly add). Our species is what it is, born in sin.
