Why no hate for a former Spur?

I don't think anybody around here really hates the Spurs like the Mavs or Jazz are hated. There's no Malone bear hug/Stockton 3 or Finley stealing the ball from out of bounds type of moment associated with the Spurs.

The only thing I can hold against the Spurs is that they tend to beat us quite a bit and they've won more championships than us. Worthy of begrudging respect more than hate in my book.

 

They gift wrapped Scola for us and in essence they gave us Ron Artest. Can't hate them for that. Besides, how can you or anyone for that matter hate Brent Barry? I'd welcome the guy with open arms even if he was a Jazz-hole or Mav. Barry is like one of the nicest guys ever.

 

For spurs its just a friendly I-10 rivalry with no real hate but the Mavs they are just awful so are the jazz also spurs gave us scola

 

Agreed partially. I would say the gift of the free Power forward in Scola kinda eased my hate. And Duncan ain't as b****y as Boozer.

 

Or dirty. Seriously, if you see Boozer out on the street, trip him.

Don't get me wrong. I freaking hate the Spurs. HATE EM!!! But Brent Barry isn't a flopper or a cheap shot artist or a whiner like the rest of that team. Hell, he was pretty damn classy in postgame interviews discussing that Derek Fisher foul at the end of Game 5.

 

Actually a LOT of people here hate the Spurs but Brent Barry isn't one of their star players and he doesn't do annoying stuff to make people angry. Plus, he hasn't exactly killed the Rockets when we played them.

 

Umm... I, uh, actually really like the Spurs. After the Rockets are out, I root for them every year. They're a Texas team with Tim Duncan. Of COURSE I'll root for 'em.

 

Brent Barry is an awesome guy. That's the reason.

When Rocket's fans say they hate the Spurs, it always comes off as jealousy. They are not obnoxious, they run a good organization, and they aren't little crybabies(with the exception of Duncan sometimes).

Spurs are my distant number two behind the Rockets, but number two nonetheless.

Teams I hate... Jazz, Mavs, Lakers, any team with Shaq on it.

Spurs don't bother me... in actuality the only two people on the Spurs I dislike... Bowen and Popo.

Plus Brent Barry is a legacy... you can't hate on a legacy.

(For those who aren't familiar with sorority/fraternity terms, a legacy means that someone in your family has been members before you and that gives you a leg up in getting into the group)

 

Dude, I hate the Spurs more than just about anything else in this universe (Except for the j*zz, of course). But I've never hated Brent Barry. He's a BARRY for goodness sake. Seriously.

 

no reason to hesitate, as you can see, theres a lot of rockets fans that dont mind the spurs much...then theres the few who cant stand to see the logo without freaking out...im sorry thats just a little over the top for me, for any team actually...

So if Lebron james was in the spurs and was traded to Rockets somehow you would still hate him?

 

I hate their stadium and its location
I hate that they purposely kept Robinson out that season so they can get Duncan with the lottery
I hate that in 92-93 we got screwed over for home court since Robinson hit a shot like 5 seconds after the game was over and they counted it. That would have most likely started the TRIPLE CLUTCH CITY.
I hate that the Spurs fans back in the day think that Robinson was better than Dream.
I hate Popovich.

besides that.. they are refuge for ex-Rockets, so I guess that's ok.
