We have Francis. Moochie is a little overpaid, but he is a good backup. So why draft Tito when we might possibly need a two? Ok so maybe not Grizzard for whatever reasons, but what about Juan Carlos Navarro? Did anyone watch the game last night between Spain and the US. Kid's got skills. He can shoot, pass, and he's got great handles. He is even a good defensive player. He can swing 1/2. So why not. I think an all international draft would have been perfect. What do you think?
He is a pass first player who can be an insurance backup point guard in case Francis starts reexperiencing migraines.
Or you could just use the quote icon. Yeah, its probably better to learn your way in case you want to quote more than one thing.
Truth, when you press the "reply" icon (it looks like a piece of paper with an arrow) above someones post it should quote their post for you. If you press the "post reply" button at the top and bottom of the page it wont quote for you.
From what I've heard, Maddox has some real natural playmaking abilities that exceed Francis' and Moochie's. He could be a pretty good pg for the Rockets.
I think the main reason the Rockets brought in Tito, was to get Moochie back into gear. Hopefully Tito will push Moochie to wake up from his season long coma known as the 01-02 season. Maddox also is a very good sized PG.
i beter question is, why didnt we draft ginobili. he's got real game. the spurs got lucky there. i hear they traded daniels to make room for him. either way, the reason we drafted maddox was to chalenge tierre this summer, make him work on his body and on his game. thats one way to make sure that your player will work on his game over the summer.
When did the Spurs drafted him? If he was drafted before Maddox then the Rockets didn't have a draft pick since they took Nachbar who everybody wanted him. If he was drafted after Maddox I can see your point.
Ginobili was draft 2 yrs ago . . . .i think we got this Griffen kid that was suppose to be good. Rocket River
http://www.nba.com/transactions/movement2002_index.html#june Transactions: On Thursday- July 18th 2002 San Antonio signs 1999 second-round pick Emanuel Ginobili. -He was the second to last pick in the entire 1999 Draft. Houston got Kenny Thomas with the 22nd pick in the first round & they also had two picks in the 2nd round. Of course that was the year we traded for the 2nd pick Stevie Franchise as well!
I love that the question was asked, "Why Maddox?". IMO, EVERY time that question is asked regarding a Rockets draft, Rudy is given the oppotunity to show his incredible scouting skills. Horry, Cassell, Thomas, CAT, Francis and Griffin (via one-sided in favor of the Rockets trades), et al. With the exception of the "Lewis Draft" Rudy has been nails, even opting out of the Pryzbilla exercise of futility proved out his genius. . During preps for the Lewis Draft, Rudy was either drinking heavily (which is possible having seen him repeatedly bellied up to the bar at the Ale House), or he realized that there were NO MINUTES to give Lewis, and given Lewis' questionable maturity level, it would have likely been messy. Either way, Maddox will now be a steal, simply because the question was asked, "Why Maddox".
Maybe Rudy felt that a high school kid with a half a million dollars in his pocket living in his home town with all his boys wasn't such a good idea... Let him go and prove out then get him when he is more mature and ready for the situation.
