I just moved here from Houston a few months ago. I bought the NBA League Pass. The game is on Fox HD which I have but Time Warner is telling me it's blacked out here. Why would that be?
Because Austin is Spurs territory, which means NBA League Pass blacks out all Spurs games in the city of Austin. Yet the city of Austin only shows 20 or so Spurs games a year. (when it should be all 82) Why would any Spurs fan live in Austin? Seriously.
time warner is a bunch of idiots. they told me the game was suppose to be on TNT. i was like WHAT?? then they told me they don't show any Spurs games in Austin at all. what morons.
They usually don't unless they are on KNVA or Fox Sports etc... Don't tell them, but this game should be blacked out...... DD
Dakota, I live in austin too, and league pass always blacks out the spurs games. It is really frusturating when they play the rockets, but it is on espn or tnt alot. I guess its because we are "Spurs territory".
You should make a written complaint directly to League Pass, don't go through Warner Cable, Austin is an out of town market [80 miles]and should not be blanketed out for the Spurs Games
I'm in San Marcos and our cable is Time Warner Austin, we just got League Pass today and maybe it's the contact high from our win, but I LOVE IT more than my dog. It wasn't blacked out here, it was a "instant classic" replay of baylor/tech. Even worse than a blank screen. Tinman, you are right. Time Warner is run by idiots. They gave me the HBO package for free simply because I said I had it before I got LP, and they gave it to me for free. I guess the Comcast/Time Warner coaliton chaos is really unorganized.
i live in cedar park. i use the dish network and the league pass. i don't have any problem to watch rox games. don't use any cable company. they are stingy.
I can understand if they blackout and it is on another local channel, but this is BS! It was the same crap last year, Houston vs SA is not on standard cable in Austin. So this year, I buy League Pass, it isn't listed, but it is listed on (FSNHD) so I record that channel, I go to watch after getting home late from a work dinner, and I am getting a message that I don't have a subscription to that channel. I was actually looking away at the bar I was so I didn't know what happened in the game, then I get home and can't even watch it. I'm pissed...
i might go directv next year. my friend has it and its so sweet, lots of hd channels, the regular stuff doesn't look like pixelated crap that time warner has.
Yes, it was on FOX HD in Austin (which I am subscribed to) but then they said it was blacked out here. Look, I don't care if it's on local tv or NBA league pass but there is no way it should be blacked out on BOTH! That is what the league pass is for! I obviously don't care about the Spurs except when they play the Rox.
the league pass is not tv. it seems to me dish network and direct tv carry the league pass in the way different from the cable company. you should try dish network or direct tv.
another issue about the cable company is they have limited channels dedicated to the league pass. yesterday, there were a lot of nba games on the league pass. the cable company might trick you and say the rox game is blacked out blah blah blah. then they can allocate the channel to other games. dish network and direct tv don't have this issue so they can broadcast as many game as they want.
because san antonio is lame? fsn never shows spurs games. even though i know they wont, i check just for the hell of it - last nite was some high school football crap!
I was thinking more about this (die-hard Spurs fans getting hosed in Austin....) btw, I think the following would apply to a die-hard Rockets fan living in, say, Beaumont..... 1.) Why does NBA League Pass black out Spurs games in Austin? How does that benefit the NBA? Does it make Austinites want to make the 1-hour drive to SA to catch games in person? 2.) Since NBA League Pass Spurs games are blacked out in Austin, why won't Austin show all 82 Spurs games on TV? (when I was at UT, I noticed that, while Austin is considered Spurs territory, only 20 or so games were shown each season. Does that make any sense to you?) 3.) If Austin TV viewers are only going to get 1/4th of all Spurs games on TV, then there is no reason why Spurs games should be blacked out on League Pass in Austin. Who makes the decision to black out LP Spurs games in Austin? the NBA? The Cable or Satellite providers?
Be sure to check that there are at least NINE Channels for regular League pass and at least one for HD A few years ago San Antonio Warner only had six channels and I was talking and complaining directly with League Pass. League Pass forced them to comply and they then had to increase to NINE channels. This was after they only showed half a Rox game in LP.
1.) Why does NBA League Pass black out Spurs games in Austin? How does that benefit the NBA? Does it make Austinites want to make the 1-hour drive to SA to catch games in person? NBA sets the role. in a certain radius (70 or 90? miles) from where a team calls a home (from the center of city or boundary of city?). 2.) Since NBA League Pass Spurs games are blacked out in Austin, why won't Austin show all 82 Spurs games on TV? (when I was at UT, I noticed that, while Austin is considered Spurs territory, only 20 or so games were shown each season. Does that make any sense to you?) all tv companies have to black out the league pass games in which the team plays. They protect the team's deal with the local tv company. unfortunately, some local tv companies do not cover this large area and it happens you are living in the uncoverd area then you are screwed. go ahead to check whom the spurs has the deal with to broadcast their games. I doubt FSN has the right to broadcast all games. 3.) If Austin TV viewers are only going to get 1/4th of all Spurs games on TV, then there is no reason why Spurs games should be blacked out on League Pass in Austin. Who makes the decision to black out LP Spurs games in Austin? the NBA? The Cable or Satellite providers? tv providers black out the games by the role nba sets.
