Bagwell or Lamb I have a problem in them taking one of the hottest player rite now on getting on base.....Bagwell deserves DH, but still dont know what to expect.....Lamb is a defensive liability, but I feel with Baggy in there, we should have sumone that gets on base more to give more opportunities for the sluggers.....Taveras is a weak hitter, but super fast and gets on base quite often.... And I think the lineup we had out there for Game 6 NLC was good plus Baggy....
Taveras cover more ground and has better arm than Burke. Lamb has power and is a very good hitter. Today we will see what Bagwell has.
As you can see by Bagwell's two at bats, he gives you everything in them... he doesn't waste them like our younger ones do... and obviously by Lambs home run Garner made the right call on him too.
OK Lamb score 1 run...How many mistakes have he made defensively during the playoffs....How many runs have Burke brought in and scored???? Lamb, not that he is bad or any thing, but there is NO REASON why Burke on the bench....He gets on base way too often and more chance ppl are on base, the more scoring opportunites occur....put taveras at the 9th spot and Burke at the 2nd spot of the order.....Therefore you really have 3 men (Taveras, Biggio, Burke) that can get on base and fast enough to score for Berkman, Ensberg, and Lane...Bagwell is too experience so we need smart play.... Defensively Berkman is an upgrade at 1st and Burke is an upgrade in the outfield compare to Berkman.....
why didnt Ensberg or Lamb bunt??? Yes they are slugger, but ish top of the 8th....Need to tie the game especially with Willy at 3rd.....Sorrie guys i believe in small ball to extend the game as much as possible....Baggy up
y in the world we didnt pinch hit for ausmus and everrt or however u spell his name in the 9th..... Damn Jenks is pretty bad ass freakin 100 mph!!!!
You advocate starting Burke, because you say he is "on fire right now". You then question why Garner didn't pinch hit for Ausmus and Everett. Both Ausmus and Everett hit better than Burke in the NLCS. Why should Garner pinch hit for two guys that are hitting better than Burke? You ask why Ensberg or Lamb didn't bunt. More than likely, their chances of hitting the ball were better than bunting. You can not ask a player to do something he is not used to doing. You would probably have also complained when Ensberg would have popped into a suicide squeeze DP when trying to bunt that 99 MPH letter high fastball. Just relax and enjoy it. It's only one game.
I wouldn't have pinch hit for Ausmus but deifinitely would have for Everett. So what if he batted .304 against St. Louis? He hit .214 against Atlanta and .225 in September and October. No way you don't pinch hit for him.
Not to mention he hit two balls to the gap that flew all the way to the wall. Not those little dinkers he normally he hits. Not getting him home either of the times he lead off with doubles last night killed us. Willy T's been hot. Morgan Ensberg is the one who to me seems to be struggling the most. He carried us through the season and against the Braves though, so time for someone else to step up.
My point wasn't whether or not you should pinch hit for either, but as to why the poster seemed contradictory in his 2nd guessing.
Bags needs to stay in there. The man just stood there and let two balls hit him last night. I'm sorry, but most players out there would be getting the hell out of the way if they are just coming back from season ending surgery. The dude has balls. He was on base twice last night. He's all about the team and the outcome. Screw glory, i'm getting on base however i can.
