Our country has many pressing problems. Installing the Karzai government in Pastun southern Afghanistan where the local people hate him does not seem like it should be a priority. It might be good also as Obama talks about to root out corruption in Karzai's government, but that has been a several thousand year problem in Afghan politics so who is he to actually do this. Besides I think he should focus on corruption in our government and fiancial system. I think Oama is doing the Afghan thing as a political move to placate Repubican s who will always claim he is soft on "defense" i.e, in actuality perpetual war fare. I don't think he can placate them.
Because he is a muslim terrorist born in Indonesia who is set out to destroy this great country of ours. More likely he is just a republican kind of posing as a democrat. He needs to get out of both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Maybe because he believes he came to office with thousands of US troops in their and he feels it is important for him to show up every now and then to support them. Or maybe because he believes it is a compelling interest in stabilize the country that allied and sheltered Al Qaeda.
Karzai getting closer to China and Iran might have something to do with it. http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/LC30Df01.html
Its a classic politial diversionary tactic. In this case its to redirect the lame-stream media rhetoric away from the health care debacle.
yeah, this is the guy you guys were saying was different from basso, any way, he doesn't need to distract, he won already LOL
placate stupid war-mongers: Spoiler placate = applaud war-mongers = u.s. citizens 6,918 miles from home Spoiler Bush did it. Spoiler Clinton did it. Spoiler The other Bush did it. Spoiler Reagan did it. Spoiler Lincoln did it. I think we get the idea.
Here are the afgan's choices: A corrupt govt Taliban I mean what happens when we leave if we ever do?
Afghanistan is the world's biggest treadmill, your never really going forward, but if you stop you will fall off.
Wait... are you asking why he made the trip this weekend? I first thought the question was about why the country is still engaged in war there. That would have been a more interesting question. Asking why he made the trip to Afghanistan is as silly as asking why he went to lobby for the Olympics or why he went on a date with his wife. Who cares? His cover story was a trip to Camp David. Is this worse than taking a weekend "off"? Or were you really talking about the war in general?
not to answer for him, but i'm going to answer for him To his credit, Glynch has been a critic of this war, maybe even from the beginning. glynch has also written some fairly informed person on this war IMHO. so maybe the photo op, pep rally, whatever you want to call, just got him going again.
Considering Aghanistan was probably a bigger Obama campaign issue than HCR, I'd say you're wrong once again.
This is his war and I guess he feels the need to show our resolve even though it is not there. The country is not paying attention to the wars anymore and just wants out of that craphole.
