Ok, I am a computer guy. I do not know that much about basketball. I thought the best player was supposed to play. I thought you gave people like K. Thomas and C Rodgers time to plaly and never put lesser players on the floor. OK, I know nothing. Please tell me WHY is MO Taylor A rocket? Thank You!
TheDBA -- I'm sorry for accidentally closing this thread... I moved it from the BBS Hangout to here and it accidentally locked itself in both forums. Anyhow, welcome to the board ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
TheDBA - IMHO, a combination of the following: 1) Charles Barlkley retires 2) Mo T's contract with the Clips was up and either he or his agent (probably the agent, David Falk) thought Mo was a max money player and should test the waters of Free Agency. 3) Since Mo T (an Unrestricted FA) and the Clippers did not have a good business relationship, no effort was made to "sign and trade" players with another team (thereby allowing the Clips to get something in return for Mo's loss - like what was done with Detroit and Orlando in the signing of Grant Hill). 4) Whether real or Clips misinformation, Mo T had a reputation as a malcontent. 5) Mo's market valued was ultimately less than his agent and he envisioned and so when a block buster trade envolving Vin Baker feel through (the Pistons pulled out at the last minute), Mo could not be persued by the Sonics. 6) The Rockets needed some low post scoring punch and had been in contact with Mo most of the summer. After the Seattle deal fell apart. Mo decided on Houston (with some help from phone calls by Steve and Cuttino). I believe he may have been offered more money by Toronto. I think this is pretty accurate. I'm doing this from memory, so perhaps some of the more detail-oriented posters may set the record correct if I miss some points. If I didn't address the question directly, perhaps you could rephrase it? ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited January 02, 2001).]
Mo Taylor is a rocket because he is a talented young power forward with all the physical skills to be a solid player. The rockets were able to sign him to a one year no-risk contract at very little expense to fill one of their questionable positions. That's why he's a rocket. ------------------
To my recollection, Toronto offered him 5 years, 30 mill, but under Falk's recommendation (or actually Falk did it for him, Mo wanted to accept it), it never went all the way. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
