Well, I'm just wondering. The guy aquired an AIDS virus a decade back i guess and he's looking better even. Is he fully well? I wonder what's keeping him well.
He had HIV not AIDS...and has had the ability to pay for all the drugs he needs to keep him as healthy as possible.
Because he has the money to afford the AIDS cocktail drugs and takes them regularly and on-time. The AIDS cocktail drugs prevent HIV from becoming full-blown AIDS and just keeps the virus running in circles. Most people can't afford these drugs so its very hard for them to stave off AIDS.
He still has HIV. He says he takes his medicine 3 times a day. That's what keeps him alive. If you don't take your medicine, you will fall ill to AIDS. That's why early detection of HIV is important, so you can take your medicine to prevent getting AIDS. He looks healthy because he takes care of his body with exercise and a healthy diet.
Anyone who rips on Magic for having the money to "stay alive" ... it just infuriates me. I have a friend who was diagnosed with AIDS back when it was called "GRIDS" (Gay-Related Immune Defciency Syndrome), we're talking 1981 or so. He's still alive, and active, and leads a normal life. Money and available drugs aren't the only reason Magic and my friend (who lives in a one-bedroom apartment, and still watches laserdiscs, and doesn't have anywhere near the money Magic has) are still around. I can't stand when people point to Magic having the money to take the same drug cocktail that millions of people take, as if it's some sort of BAD thing. Like he "supposed" to have died by now.
