When I had job it seemed like people were trying to offer me this job or that job. Now that I don't have one it is like they think you suck. I know the economy is bad right, but I noticed this in the good times as well. People without jobs would get jobs, but it might take a few interviews. Anyone have any theories why?
I am perpetually amazed when people jump from job to job....getting bored after a couple of months or simply deciding they dont like it...then getting another job almost immediately. Why dont employers look at the history and avoid! This is honestly one of my biggest pet hates. Plus, how could they handle doing so many damn job interviews, I hate those things.
Bingo - it was the first thing I thought of when I read the opening post. I think I have been called "hon" and "honey" by 100 different women in the last 3 years sometimes with the wife standing right next to me!
i think you're probably more relaxed in the interviews when you already have a job because there is less on the line for you. whereas, if you "need" that job you might tighten up a bit.
You have described my wife. I keep telling her eventually people will notice she never stays anywhere for more than a few months.
It's easier b/c women know you have money coming in.. and they'll do anything to get a piece of it--which includes giving jobs.
There is also a little bit on the potential employers side as well. "This guy has a job, he doesn't need to work here, but he chooses to" Also, if you have a job, it means you haven't been fired or laid off. Sometimes there is a stigma to someone that's been laid off. "Well, this person obviously wasn't valuable enough in their last job" whether the layoff was due to cost cut backs or not.
This is what I would say. Employers are worried about whether you really want to work there. If you're unemployed, they worry that you'll bs them about how much you like the company and take the job just because you need the money. Then, you'll start looking for the job you want once you have cash flow. But, if you have a job, and you want to switch to them, it's not because you are desperate; you actually want to work there.
