His dad was a rocket. His brother was a rocket. He played on the 09 team.

But he is a rocket hating sack. Loves him some Warriors and Steph curry.

I think Barry is a great analyst and love it when he gives insight about his playing days, especially on The Bone Zone for The Starters. I haven't heard much hate that I can think of myself, but haven't watched him all that frequently on TV. Was it something he said?

Gratuitous shots at Harden, downplaying his defensiveimprovement . But he always hates on us.

Unlike his brother, Brent is very fair in his analysis. Just because he isnt a Rockets homer doesnt mean he is a Rockets hater.

Yeah the hate for Harden's D is getting extremely annoying now that he plays pretty damn well. I guess he brought it upon himself with his past, but I wish more people would acknowledge the improvement and new found effort.

Becuase he's now a member of the National Media, and they are by rule not allowed to compliment the Rockets, and must love the Warriors.

    JVG is the sole rebel.

Didn't he feel he was cheated out of money by the organization? Or is that just Barkley?

Brent did say when Harlan goes "Harden is on Fire tonight" and Barry says "Tonight or all season?"

At least he's giving props that he's been playing this way all year.

When he's on nbatv I've seen give lots of praise to Harden and the Rockets. I don't think he has any agendas when he brings them up, just giving his opinion. His brother, on the other hand...

I think Brent is pretty fair, but just naturally a little over critical. Or he sounds that way even if he approves of everything.

Idk. Maybe he is a little sour how his career ended in Houston. After being a key addition, he was pushed aside for Von Wafer in the 2009 season.

It did sound as if it's the first time they're watching the Rockets. Raving at how Harden does the major lifting on offense shooting and facilitating.

I think the media bought into their own narrative that the Rockets lost ground because of the loss of Parsons, Lin and Asik. Then they wouldn't watch Rockets games.

But now they have to begrudgingly acknowledge us now because we keep on winning. Hopefully they change their mind about Harden's game.

Brent loves himself some Steve Kerr, they seem real friendly on Open Court so the love for Curry and the Warriors is obvious. Why him and Jon do not like to give credit is probably the same reason why Barkley hates on us, personal issues with the organisation. I don't care about the Barry's though, the real know what's up: opponents commentators (Warriors, Bucks & even Spurs), JVG, Avery Johnson, Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose. Some national media guys are cool too.

Compared to his brother, he's the greatest analyst I've ever heard.

I don't think BB is that critical of the Rockets at all, and his points are usually grounded in some sort of truth.

With all of the terrible "analysts" out there, and the even worst "Bloggers" who think they are analysts, I think we have much worst things to complain about that Brent Barry. He's contributed to the Rocketscast a few times in the past, and has good relationships with alot of Rockets guys like Daryl. He knows the Rockets alot more than most of these jokers.

(Also should be noted that BB grew up a GS fan, and the Warriors actually are really good. What do you expect?)

I was irritated last night when Barry threw in with the "Harden isn't actually good on D, he's merely improved to average..." crowd. Other than that, I didn't have any issue with him.

I actually like his analysis. Analysts are allowed to be critical sometimes, it's what keeps things fresh.

The specific comment where he said Harden's defensive improvement was like the health benefit of switching from McDonald's fries to Burger King's fries was stupid and misguided (and also a very strange simile), but hardly worse than most mainstream media's pooh-poohing of Harden's improvement.

On my TV guide it showed Reggie Miller as the guy slated to be the color commentator and I let out a loud, Darth Vader-ish "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" but was relieved to see it was actually Brent Barry.

So, OP, when you get down on any national commentator/analyst, just remember: at least it's not Reggie Miller.

Don't see the hate on Brent. I enjoy his commentary.
