What can Brown do for you? Apparently not deliver packages at a decent hour... lol.

They used to come around 1 or 2 most of the time and now it's between 5 and 6:30. Fedex always arrives before noon.

What gives? True story btw brahs.

When FedEx delivers at 2, I'm not home to sign for it....when UPS delivers at 6, I'm home.

ups is all teamsters union. you know, the union that every comedian uses as a way to poke fun at union members that are perceived as lazy.

a lot of fedex drivers are independent contractors who own their truck and route.

Maybe they have more business? I worked at the UPS hub years ago, and IIRC, they deliver to business first, residences second....not sure thats true for fedex?

Package delivery times can depend on where you live.

I love that UPS comes after I'm home from work. Works out so much better.

My guess would be home deliveries in the late afternoons/evenings lead to improved first attempt delivery rates because more people are able to sign for their packages after work.

I always figured that UPS delivered packages to businesses during the day and residences in the afternoon/early evening because that's when people are most likely to be at those places.

The time of delivery depends on their routing algorithms. If they add one more stop, it's more complex than "hey, just stop at one more stop before you come back to the hub" or "hey, just tack this delivery on at the end". That one stop could affect 10 trucks and their delivery times. It's pretty much a variant of the old math problem called "The Traveling Salesman" and the sheer combinations of probable paths is probably in the billions or trillions from what I remember reading about it years ago. If I recall, that was also the article I read where they did the famous adjustment to their heuristics where they avoided left-hand turns as much as possible and saved millions of gallons of fuel per year as a result.

*EDIT* This UPS I'm talking about.

yeah, sounds about right, similar to trash pick up..i think i was confusing it with next day air delivery, which is delivered in the mornings.

The Post office is actually faster than both if you don't want to pay extra.

The biggest reason why they come so late is because they deliver to businesses first. I've lived in multiple places and UPS always delivers late to my residential.

Also, UPS delivers when they say they will deliver; They never deliver it early. I've seen them hold my packages for 3 days at the hub then move it cross country in a day. Fed Ex on the other hand keeps your package moving. Often i'll receive a fedex package early.

Also keep in mind FedEx and FedEx Ground are two completely different companies.

Doesn't FedEx service cost more than UPS?

    They all suck.

    USPS sucks
    FedEx sucks
    UPS sucks
    DHL sucks

If I'm leaving one out, it also sucks.
