Here is the deal. Everyone is saying Mo Taylor is a good player, BUT his rebounding sucks. Taylor pulled down 6.5 rebounds a game without even trying. The guy was set on leaving at the end of the year. If he plays ball with some motivation he could easily be an 8-9 rebound guy which is exactly what we need. He would be a perfect fit for us. He is young (23) can score and board. ------------------ [This message has been edited by rezdawg (edited August 09, 2000).]
I say he is a bad rebounder and his rebounding sucks. Who is to say Mo will get motivated ever again? He would not be the perfect fit. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Good, plain and simple. He may not be the perfect fit right now, but I'm not ruling out the possibility of him being molded into the lineup. He can do some good things for this team if he applies himself. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
The sad part is he averaged more rebounds than any other forward currently on our roster. ------------------ Ugh, Another Rockets off-season....I'm gonna need a keg of Pepto-Bismol.
Astro: the sad thing is it took Mo over 10 more minutes a game to average half a rebound more than KT. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
U never know, a change of scenery is all it takes for a player to produce. Besides, I think we have a overall rebounding team. Wasn't Steve #1 in rebounds for point guards or guards in general. Shandon is also a good rebounder. So we wouldn't need Mo to grab every rebound. We sure could use someone to take up space and give us some post scoring. For 2.25, we can't ask for more. ------------------
Nobody wants to rebound for the Clippers. Every possession gets more embarrassing than the last. Why would anyone in a Clipper uniform want the ball back? ------------------ "I'll take a Dream Shake for two, please."
I do not feel good about this whole Mo deal at all. We do not need a power forward who demands the ball. ------------------
Mo Taylor is not a bad rebounder. The Clips defense was pourous - there were less shots to rebound. The Rockets had 3 more missed defensive boards per game to get and the Kings had 4.5 more defensive board opportunities per game than the Clips. Mo is no C-Webb, but 4.5 IS the difference in their rebounds/game average. ------------------ GATER
What could be even sadder is that about 9 small forwards averaged more rebs/game than Mo. ------------------ Just shut up and post
What could be even sadder is that none of them played for the Rockets. Just piling on. To play some hypotheticals, let's say we get Mo, then draft Terrence Morris, here are some rebounding projections (Thankfully, they're here now, so someone won't start a new thread on them.) Cato: Likely somewhere between 7-8, maybe more Taylor: I think that he could get 7.5 for Morris: 6'9'', a very good rebounding SF....6-7 Anderson: Somewhere where he is now, between 4.5-5 Francis: I think he may enter Payton/Kidd like numbers.....anywhere from 5-7 That's a very well rounded rebounding team, and if you add like Jerome Williams, he'll throw in 9 off the bench. GATER: Taylor was the 3rd best rebounder on the Clippers (Kandi-8.2, Odom-7.8), so based on that, he would've only gotten 1 more board....still, 7.5 is somewhat respectable. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
DOD, you wanna hear something really sad? Mo Taylor, the guy who played for the clippers, who may play for the Rocks, attempted to put the ball in the basket... get this, 16 times. Hell, Cuttino Mobley, the guy everybody was on earlier in the year for jacking bricks, shot the ball 12 times a game last year. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited August 10, 2000).]
I think the rockets were 8 overall in rebounding. IF that's the case, it proves that everyone was contributing, therefore we woulnd't need MO to do his Rodman impersonation. ------------------
I think Mo Taylor would be a good fit for this team. ROCKETBOOSTER: While it's true that we don't need a forward who DEMANDS the ball, it would be nice to have one who could consistently put it in the hoop from inside. also, nobody mentions Mo putting up 16 shots a game because there was almost nobody else to take shots. Would you rather give the ball to taylor or Troy Hudson? I know who'd i give the shots to. ------------------
Yeah, but among PF's averaging over 25 mins/game and playing over 40 games, Mo was 9th in rebs/min. And guess what? He was also 9th in mins/game, so I don't have anything against his shooting the ball... he's about right on par with other PF's. His FG% is pretty bad, though. Among the same group of PF's, Mo was 19th of 31 PF's. For anybody that's watched his game, is he prone to KT syndrome where he decides to vacation 15 feet away from the basket or further? ------------------ Just shut up and post
A Mo Taylor will make a team look good on paper, thats it. A perfect fit for Vancouver. hehe ------------------
Why is everyone doggin Mo's rebounding? Because Kenny's is better and if Mo signed he would take away minutes from Kenny. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
Firstly: I HATE Mo Taylor, he's lazy and selfish and the only reason the Rockets have a shot at getting him is because he is SO deluded that he thinks he can earn more than 6m per season after this year... oh no mo... Anyway, about his rebounding; some people say that he wasn't motivated last year (or ever in his life) - and that wanting to play for big bucks this year will motivate him. Ok, so surely finishing up his career with the clips he would've wanted to impress? Surely he wanted to get out of there and so his desire would've been high? Sadly he still didn't rebound.... ... but on the other hand he IS a legitimate scoring option and he can make the long jumper (it's just convincing him not to take it every second trip down the floor that is hard...) - he'd probably fit in well with the team on offense (as long as he understood he'd get less touches) - on defense he'd be a liability, but probably no worse than anything we currently have there. And if he can vastly improve his rebounding to the point where he can acutally average 7 per game (or get those same 6.5 in 5-10 mpg less) then he might be worth having. Shandon seems to rebound well for a guard and Walt is under-rated as a boarder. He hauls in 4 per game in 24 minutes, that's just a touch worse than the mighty Mo himself... .. heck for the exception how much harm can he do ? I figure if he tries to make trouble the rockets brass will just "2 sandwiches" him and send him on his way..... If he really wants to earn big money in the future, he'll behave himself, because who's going to want to sign a guy who got waived while playing on the exception and has a history of being a trouble maker.... ------------------
