Why in the world is Strickland on the team?

I don't mind if the Rockets sign someone. If he's old, the guy better comes in, contribute on the floor and brings in veteran leadership. (Mark Jackson) If the guy's trash, he'd better be young and developing, so someday he can contribute. (Andre Barrett)

However, in the case of Strickland, he'll both old and trash. He came in, and all he did was dribble the ball across the court, giving it to someone else and steps aside, or taking a shot by himself and missing. I haven't seen him do anything productive on the floor. Why is he taking time away from Barrett and Gaines?

Back in the day when he was good, he use to kill the Rockets w/ his penetration.

Now he can't even penetrate women. He needs to go.

Because he is old and a former Knick. And we all know how JVG loves those guys. ;)

    DeAleck,
I totally agree. Everytime he's out there he is either:

    A) Turning the ball over
    B) Almost turning the ball over
    C) Fouling
    D) Throwing up a brick
    E) Getting injured

He is the one rocket on this squad that I get absolutely pissed at because he is so frustrating to watch.

He can't shoot worth crap right now but he's shown flashes. I think he was a good pickup. Check his stats from last season. Maybe he will get back to that level.

Oh, well, every team needs a bad player for the fans to hate on. Strickland has courageously taken on the role of Moochie. In a way, he's protecting Spoon, Padget and Gaines from our wrath. We should all thank him for taking one for the sacrafice.

He can't shoot a lick, and gets winded ridiculously fast, but the guy is putting up a a 3.67 AST/TO ratio.

exactly he is still working himself into game shape, he will get his shooting back but at least he can still get into the lane and find open men. I still think he is the best passer on the team. Mark Jackson last year shot horribly too (and he never was that great of a shooter) and didnt penetrate the lane as well as Strickland does. It seems like Jackson got more of a pass because he was a lot more stable than Francis was at the PG and now with the team passing so well Strickland looks like a wash, but I do think that sooner than later Strickland will pay dividends for the team

They were probably thinking he had to be real fast and could really help us run the break because his nostrils are so big.

I saw why Strickland is here. As I recall, in one game recently Strickland missed a shot and got his own offensive rebound. What did he do with it? As soon as it touched the tips of his fingers it was passed to Yao Ming for a dunk.

I don't have any problem with his signing. Nobody expects him to be a long term solution, or even a major contributer for the year. But I believe he can have flashes. Think Steve Kerr turning around the SA series with a hot 5 minutes.

Let's face it, he is a second stringer, better than Barrett, and if things turn ugly we can go to Wesley and Barry picking up the slack. At his price I see little downside, and as I said he may provide a an occasional playoff spark for us. Give him a chance.

Did any notice that in the past 2 games Strickland made 1 shot (1 in each game) to bring the Rockets out of the scoring drought?

Did we sign him for the remainder of the season or is he still on a (second or third) 10 day contract?
