If the Spurs beat the Jazz and win the Midwest......they get the 2 seed, and a 2nd round meeting with the 3 seeded Lakers with the Lakers having home court.

I don't think the Spurs want that.

I think the Spurs would rather play the Kings in the second round. The Spurs actually have a shot against them. Then the Spurs could play the Lakers in the West Finals again.

This is assuming the the Lakers beat the Kings in tonight's game at Staples, which I fully expect to happen because the Lakers would get home court in the 2nd round.

The possibility exists that the Lakers will drop to 4th. A Laker loss to the Kings with Spurs and Mavericks victories puts Dallas at 3 and L.A. at 4.

If I were the Spurs, I'd want to meet the Lakers as soon as possible. If they are going to beat the Lakers, can you imagine the momentum they'd have coming out of that series? It'd also reduce the likelihood of playing the Lakers with an injured player. I don't think they want to relive the Derek Anderson injury (unless, of course, it happened to Derek Anderson again).

why is it the spurs never just "lose"?

there's always some kind of angle...some kind of excuse...bruce bwen is hurt...pop's experimenting...the refs cheated us...blah blah blah...

but they never just "lose". they never "get beaten".

i hate the spurs. i really do. moreso than any other team in nba history. i hate the spurs.
