Why I (now) think Bosh might be the way to go: Rick Adelman

Ok, the truth is no one on this board cares and 99% probably didn't notice, but I'm one of the biggest Bosh haters on this board. There are many reasons why-I think he isn't worth the max, he's a second banana, we might be giving up too much-etc, however the main crux of my argument has always been I don't think a Bosh/Scola FC is all that better than a Scola/PP/Hill frontcourt to justify Bosh's max contract.

From a pure "value" perspective that stance hasn't changed, but in terms of the context of this team I'm starting to think Bosh is the way to go, even if we have to give up a package like C-bud, Hill, Patterson, Jeffries, Battier and NY picks to do it. If Bosh is indeed available, and IF he indeed is interested I think we should go for him.

The reason is Rick Adelman. I like our coach as much as I like JVG (which is a lot), but except for RA worshippers I'm pretty sure everyone here already knows by now that lineup adjustments aren't his forte. He's just not good at maximizing the talent of his roster. He sucks at both playcalling and adjustments, and IMHO he'd really just like to sit back, sip iced-tea and watch his team maul his opponents more than call plays during games.

If I were DM, instead of continuing to collect assets I'd face the reality that my coach is more comfortable with a 6-8 strong lineup instead of having all these interchangeable parts that can be best used in specific situations and needs constant management. Even if we lose value, upgrading the position cuts down on the substitutions Adelman has to do, he can play an 7-man rotation composed of Yao, Bosh, Martin, Brooks, Ariza, Scola and an FA like Brad Miller and not have to worry about changing players constantly. If I remember the Kings didn't really have a dominant bench as well, they only had 2-3 other good subs.

    What do you guys think?

Bosh is a Adelman guy because his skills fits Adelman's system perfectly with our roster, not because Adelman doesn't like in-game management.

The rockets due better at the gate ($) when we have more games on national TV. Le$ wants another big star on the team so US add dollars.

I cant say I blame him.

The 2002 Kings team that went to the WCF had a bench of Scot Pollard, Lawrence Funderburke, Hedo Turkoglu, Gerald Wallace and Bobby Jackson. That was one of the better 2nd units in the entire league.

Adelman's Rip City teams in Portland were very deep too.

I don't know that I agree with your whole premise of Rick Adelman wanting a shorter bench, but I do agree with something I read years ago which basically states that good teams (or teams becoming good) will try to consolidate talent, meaning they will trade 2 or 3 good players for 1 great one while bad teams will do the opposite meaning they will trade 1 great player for 2 or 3 good ones. I think they Rockets are at the point where they need to be consolidating their pieces.

    Sarcasm meter?

Did he not maximize the talent of a non Al Star lineup last year to the best record ever produced by such a lineup?

You literally don't know what you're talking about. Not trying to be an a**hole, it's just that you said a bunch of erroneous stuff about Adelman.

You kidding? This is a joke? Line up adjustments are not his forte'?
Oh you must be talking about JVG..

Rick's teams always overachieve and he gets every ounce of effort out of his teams. JVG's team was the one that would come down and run the same dumb play over and over, predictable, slow the ball down and the game down. It felt like I was watching someone pound square pegs in round holes.

I didn't notice but after reading your post it's very obvious you're a hater. Come on Rudy Gay got Max money and Bosh is not worth as much... Daryl Morey is one of the best evaluators of value and he thinks Bosh is worth the Max but you don't. Your vision is tainted by your hate. Bosh is 24/10+ guy. Only dwight Howard can claim better. But Bosh does it with efficiency , a great outside shot, 80 percent free throw shooting. He also blocks shots, shoots 3 and plays 70+ games a year throughout his career. If that's not max money I don't know what is. Yeah he hasn't had playoff success bu he is playing with scrubs. Put Lebron on that team instead of Bosh and watch how fails.

You love Adelman as much as JVG? You must hate JVG! Not good at maximizing the talent. I have to disagree majorly. A 42 win season without one all star, With Artest, Tmac and Yao... With a team after missing those guys was in the playoff hunt 2 thirds of the season until the hit the injury bug again. Battier Ariza and Lowry all had significant time on the DL. Plus he had to adjust to a major trade in the middle of the season that meant another adjustment to the team. ANd he did all of this while dealing with Lady Tmac and still got us out with a winning record. That borders on amazing in my book. I would have to say you are a Bosh hater and an Adelman Hater too.

You like Adelman a lot, but you think he sucks as playcalling and adjustments? What else is there?

Yao will break down if we only play a 7 man rotation.

    What about a Bosh/PP/Hill FC? That's better than a Scola/PP/Hill FC.

True. I remember when the starting lineup would be down 10 and the whole 2nd unit could come in and put them up 5. Sacramento had a dangerous 2nd unit.
