This is a poor argument now days. You can go watch any video and time on Youtube. If all MTV did was show music videos their viewership would be even worse than what they pull now.
I hadn't listen to FM radio in a solid 4-5 years....then the other day I was flipping through stations and I hear some off pitched female singing "baby you're a firewooooork, c'mon let ya colors burst...oh uh oh" yea, I'll try FM radio again in another 5 years.
I'd say that your argument is flawed here. If MTV played nothing but videos, I would have it on in the background constantly, like radio. Pulling up a youtube video takes time and conscious thought.
lol goes to show how i seriously DON'T listen to MTV music, so long that they actually stopped.. I meant MTV music as in that 'genre' of music... hip hop, pop, etc..
exactly. Actually, it's a great argument. They should change their name so as to not continue to bastardize its legacy, as it has now abandoned anything it once was (concerted effort not to use jump the shark reference). Something more appropriate, perhaps. Mostly Tripe and not Videos.
I used to love FM radio, now I found all the stations play the same 8 songs, all day. Except for this one classic rock station, they usually play some good music and vary it up.
It did somewhat change the name. It's just called MTV, but they don't emphasize Music Television anymore.
plus youtube you have to pick out the song and then once its done playing its done! It's not like a radio station where you can just leave it on. the only thing on MTV now is really crappy and fake reality shows
Nah uh...it's true...they don't play music anymore. They have officially moved it off of their original network. So it's not really an argument it's a fact.
They did change their name: MTV drops 'Music Television' from official logo The network now is home primarily to reality shows. February 13, 2010|By Scott Collins Twenty-five years ago, MTV was best known for music videos starring Michael Jackson and Madonna. These days, its reigning queen is not a recording star at all but rather Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, the rowdy party girl from the reality series "Jersey Shore." So maybe it's not surprising that this week the 29-year-old network bowed to the inevitable and finally scraped the legend "Music Television" off its corporate logo. http://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=...=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_en___US405&ie=UTF-8
Capitalism is great for America! Good thing that creative people will create without regard to how much money they could make.
I have like four MTV stations and the only one that plays music is the Spanish one, and it's all Spanish hip hop or something. Why do we need 3 MTV's and 2 VH1's with no music?
