    I know that the idea that Kobe's got great D is heavily contested, but I'm surprised the Lakers haven't, at least, tried putting Kobe on Brooks, yet. Kobe's has the length and his speed is enough to keep Brooks in front him. Battier isn't exceptional at creating his own shots and I think Farmar, even Fisher, can check him enough.

    Good point.

    I think if AB is going off again in Game 7, we'll see Kobe take a shot at him and probably Trevor Areeza on him too.

    because clearly kobe's so called defense is really not that good. hes always talking about how he always wants to guard the team's best player. apparently he's not doing that right now.

    Because Aaron will abuse him off the dribble and make him look less like a superstar!

    first off if farmar cant stay in front of brooks then kobe can't. secondly why would phil want kobe to chase brooks around and tire him out?

    ...Doesn't anyone remember Wafer completely burning Kobe?

    With Brooks that's like x10. No way Kobe can stay in front of Brooks, he had a hard enough time playing safety against Rondo last year.

    Isn't Kobe on the first all-Defensive team? It'd interesting to see how well Kobe can contain AB.

    Would Phil trade Kobe's offense to shut down Aaron? :)

    i suspect they will try kobe on brooks, when they do adelman immediately needs to put shane on the low block against farmar or ariza. exploit the fact that kobe is on brooks.

    Kobe's too much of a wuss and doesn't want to get humiliated. Aaron is waaaay too quick for Kobe.

    Phil is losing his marbles. The following Defensive strategy would give the Rockets trouble. Would allow the Kobe to roam free and get the ball out of Brooks hand. We need to bring everone above the free throw line.

    Ariza = AB
    Fisher = Battier (not sure Battier can post him up)
    Kobe = Chuck
    Odom = Artest
    Gazol = Scola

    Plus committing the sin of Hack a Chuck Wagon forcing Hayes to shoot free throws, this would put Chuck out of the game.

    I don't see it a bad thing. Chuck comes in early in the game, if they do that, 5 fouls in 3 mins from their starters? As long as he is effective defensively it's all good for teh rockets.

    Come on, ALL of us know that there won't be a single Laker in foul trouble all afternoon. This game's coming down to the Rockets making shots, because we can't depend on the calls.

    As for Kobe defending Aaron, I haven't noticed his all-World defense yet this series. Unless you count leaving Shane wide open to shade on other guys and elbowing fools left and right all-World D.

    They'd put Ariza on Brooks before they use Kobe. They did that against Parker last year.

    Kobe isn't that quick, gang. Even in his youth his athleticism was overrated but as a few of us have mentioned he is on the decline in a bad way athletically.

    He is probably the most lethal player to ever play the game from 16-20 feet. That midrange jumper of his is sick and he can get it off against anyone but don't let that fool you. He can't stay in front of quick SG much less one of the top 3 quickest PG in the league.

    because aaron brooks is too short to elbow in the neck. kobe will look like a fool for elbowing at thin air.

    because kobe is getting old and if he spends a lot of energy in defense then his offense will suffer?

    because kobe's defense now is overrated? and he's not as fast as ab?

    idk.
