    Because the Rockets have youth!!!

Shut up you cry babies about Rashard Lewis (no pun intended). Lewis was a victim of a scenarios, I felt for him when he was crying after the Rockets passed him up 3 times. But the Rockets wanted experience becuase they had 2 players past their prime who thought they could still win a championship. As it turned out, Dickerson should have gone in the top 5 picks (a steal) Drew was a senior as well, but lacked the maturity that is expected from a College senior. And what to say about Turchan, my only take on that is that they knew that they were going to sign Pippen thus needed to trade that pick away so, they opted just not to draft Lewis as to not hurt his feelings in a trade of him to someone else. Of course realizing that he would be taken by any of the next 3 teams drafting. Not thinking he would end up being drafted in the 2nd round. Ouch ouch ouch ouch, you could see it in Rudy's face that he felt for Lewis after the whole ordeal was done with.

Now Darius Miles, comes along. Different situations are present. Every team covets Miles in the league. The Rockets are young. Which is a plus, they don't need him to be an all star this season. With the team they had last year, they were winning. So, if a few free agents can be swayed to come to Houston, Darius Miles will be the key that put the Rockets into the Finals in a few years form now.

Come on, as of now, not even K-mart can put the Rockets into the Finals. So, let's go for the 2nd guy with the most potential, Daius Miles. Swift being the first. And from what I've heard from Rudy Miller being the Third most talented.

Well, if we can get a good big man, then I say we go for the big man. Miles is after all a small forward, so we have to make some adjustments in order to give him playing time. I would actually love to have Miles after hearing all this stuff about how athletic he is... sure he doesn't have a good jumper, but like someone else said, "YOU CAN TEACH SOMEONE TO SHOOT, BUT YOU CAN'T TEACH ANYBODY THE GOD-GIVEN PHYSICAL TALENT THAT MILES HAS."

The only way we get MIles is if we trade away Walt, but from what I've heard, we're not going to do that. Who knows? We might just draft Miles and then trade his ass to some other team for a big man.

I have a feeling that if we were still a veteran team like we were a few years ago, that you might be saying coming into an older established team is the perfect situation for Miles.
Its just a wild guess but I'd say you like Miles and want to see him a Rocket.

Actually, that was the reason that the Rockets did not draft Lewis. They had a veteran team and they wanted to win.

The Rockets had a plan. Dickerson a mature senior was to replace Clyde Drexler. Bryce Drew was supposed to come in with a mature attitude and give Maloney a run for his money at point guard. Turchan supposedly had the best workout in Rocket rookie workout; ever!!!!! Of course my other take on that is that the Rockets had the Pippen trade already worked out an knew they were going to trade that pick. So, as to not to have to trade Lewis (which would with no doubt burn all bridges) they hoped one of the following teams would draft him in the 1st round.

So, had they had a younger team, there is no doubt that the Rockets draft Rashard with the Drew pick. But, as you see, they were trying to fill specific need.

So, I do see the Rockets drafting Miles if he is available.
