SAR has averged almost 1 block per game and does a better job at every other aspect of the game. He seems to be a nice guy((not a weed smoker) not saying that makes you bad). I guess the ? is why didn't and won't they pull this trigger? SARs a better rebounder, 3point and inside shooter, assits man, FT shooter, and gets more steals, just a way better player. Lets be serious .70 blocks is not that valuble. And I know Rice isn't either.
SAR had back surgery a few weeks ago and will not be able to workout for 8-12 weeks. Also, why do you think the Hawks want to give him up for Griffin and Rice. Giving up Robinson is one thing, but giving up SAR for caproom in another thing.
I remember a rumor that they were willing to trade for EG last season after they new they had no chance at winning. The deal was the Rox turned it down. I know alot of ccbbs posters felt SARs is a soft player with no D. They also thought he is unable to win. I think he would fit just as well as Wallace if not better. He only lackes Wallaces length, Techs, and additude.
I think those stats are based on a lot mroe minutes for SAR. Not saying griff is as good as SAR, but Atlanta wanted Rice and Griffin. We weren't about to destroy chemistry and depth in the middle of the playoff race.

I know it gives me hope.
SAR is not a winner. He can put up numbers, but he has always done it on losing teams. At least Eddie is young and impressionable. His game can still be molded, and he does have a lot of upside. With SAR, you know you'll get numbers, but does he do the little things that help put a team over the top? IMO, he doesn't. Not that Eddie does those things to put a team over the top, but he can at least still learn what those things are.
It does give hope to EG himself, not Rockets. Like J, Oneal did, EG has to change to another team to get a burst.
David Aldridge reported that SAR was offered for EG and us BBS posters surmised that Glen Rice would have to be included to work under the cap. It also fit the Hawks' plans of shedding salary. As far as SAR being, basically, a loser, Stevie would be no different if he had stuck it out on the Grizzlies. I like SAR, although I don't know if he's what we need. I believe his salary is up in 2 years, at which time you could re-sign him at a more reasonable salary. No one would sign him at a "grandfather clause" rate, meaning a salary starting at $14 mil per. More of a Mo-T type contract, as Juwan Howard had to take (not that Juwan Howard's bank account is crying). Getting SAR now would probably take Cat and Mo, as we are obviously not looking to trade away Rice's ending contract. Also, SAR does consider himself a 4. He says he doesn't understand the move made to bring in Terrell Brandon's contract, unless more moves are in the offing. He says the team needs a 3 and something else, I forget (it's on ESPN Insider). Of course, 't'would be funny if such moves meant the trade I "proposed" (which isn't at all likely).
I thought that it was Griffin, Mobley, and Rice for Reef. If that is the case, I would turn it down too. I could be wrong though.
I know! Why DIDN'T we want to trade EG? If it was EG and GR for SAR, then I would have done it... But not if it was EG + GR + CM for SAR. But Rockets rejected the offer.. And now...they have already traded away Glenn Robinson. We will have to give up more than EG and GR for SAR. EG didn't improve that much.. Well now either way. We have lost Posey...and we didn't get SAR. So if we did the trade or we didn't...it doesn't matter...we have the softest forwards in the NBA!
Why? Because that would give us the softest frontcourt in the NBA. I mean it's soft as hell now, but at least Griffin only makes a fraction of what Rahim makes. Rahim's offensive firepower doesn't really complement what we need at the 3 spot. We basically need an athletic 3, who plays D, and runs the floor well (hmm, sound familiar?). We had that guy in JPo, but unfortunately his asking price was too rich for our blood.
Don't get me wrong I like Eddie's potental. I just believe we do not have the luxury of time to wait for our STARTER to develop if we are trying to do anything in the playoffs. When EG contract is up his improvements will not be enough to resighn him to what another team will offer for his potental. We will have put in the time to train him and lose him, without benafitting from his true abilities. We need players who will produce now not later, we should be through rebuilding. SAR may be considered soft but he gets more rebounds, steals and only avg. .64 less blocks per game. EG's main atrubute is his shot blocking and we despratly need a consistant high fg% scoring pf. I'm not saying he is the answer but we need a change and I don't think it would make us any worse. Plus we would be on the hook for only 2 years, nothing like the mastackes we've already made.
My deal has always been Cat,Taylor and Griffin for Glover ,SAR, and a future pick. Nachbar,Morris or Rice to play the 3,Pike to the 2 and SAR at the 4. Now you have a consistent rebounder and scorer at the 4 and a shooter at the 2, veterans could fill the rest. People forget that SAR is only a couple months older than Francis. He's a quality player on and off the court and is very, very consistent player no matter what position he plays.
