Why doesn't Yao dunk more?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before..

Why does Yao Ming not dunk the ball all the damn time?

I mean, I saw clips of the Asian games and he was really aggresive. What happened?

I know a lot of people may say that he is timid still in the NBA, getting acclimated and all that, but it makes no sense.

When I was playing posrts and the coach told me, "quit messing around, get physical and do what you know you can do!", I became a different person. What does JVG have to do, tell him to let loose or he'll be benched?

I dunno. I'm just tired of seeing a 7'6'', 310 pound guy get pushed around and not push back.

cause its easier to dunk with authority on a bunch of korean or qatarese guys who are afraid of you than to throw down in the nba.

I truly believe a lot of it is mental though, he thinks he's going to get overpowered, so he goes for the lay in. We have to beat that out of him somehow.

Why should he bother using so much effort for preseason? He's probably saving his energy and aggresiveness for the regular season. Yao's smart like that.

yeah, and why doesn't he change more lightbulbs, or reach things on high shelves, and i think that he should do more of those "bumping-his-head-on-the-ceiling-fan" gags!

This is a worthless thread and I am sorry to point this out. Was there an opportunity for Yao to dunk that he declined? Maybe I was watching a different game the past week but almost every opportunity Yao has had to dunk HE DID or at least attempted to. So what exactly is your point again? Or is it that you just want to start your own thread?

Yao really should not be that selfish.

He was saving his gas for a dunk on Wallace, but it didn't materialize. :p

The one-hand dunk is so easy for Yao that he has extra time to do other stuff with the other hand...

I would love to see Yao dunk more, but it's only the preseason. I think he's going to have a very, very big year. I just hope we can be patient considering we added a lot of new players and a new coach.

btw, yao only shot 9 for 14 tonight. not good enough yao! heh, heh
