Why doesn't Terrence Jones get playing time like other rookies?

He was one of the best in the Summer League.

Better than Drummond, Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, T-rob, Waiters, etc.

The only rookie with arguably better stats from what I've seen is Lillard.

So why do the coaches give no love to Jones?

It's probably something that's going on in practice. D-mo got his opportunity ahead of Tjones based off what he was showing in practice. You gotta work to earn minutes.

Terrence Jones should be playing ahead of Thomas Robinson.

I thought mchale was no nonsense old school coach and you have to "earn" your minutes. So why is trob, a rookie who just got here and doesnt fit the system get playing time over a player who has been here the entire season, knows the system better, and has 3pt range?

They just want to see if Trob has something, if he doesn't I see Tjones getting some minutes on the court in about 2 weeks.

According to Craig Ackerman on rocketscast live, Jones has a wrist injury, which may be why he's behind Robinson.

In due time I believe T-Rob will find his way to the DNP list. IMO McHale threw him out there just to see how he would respond.

If that means Jones gets playing time so be it or playing small ball with Parsons at the four.

I could see this being the case. Partly in part to appease Morey perhaps

Hopefully if/when TJones gets time, which is highly likely because he's the best defensive presence we have left at PF, he will come in and just do the lunch pail things

You don't know anything about the situation, maybe he's struggling to remember the offence in practice, maybe he has a poor attitude, who knows what it is, none of you work directly with the coaching staff so stop saying that our coach is for some reason biased against certain players. Everyone here just assumes that they know more than the coaching staff because they've seen a few highlight reels.

I've seen three or four people say he's hurt, so I bet it's that

If Dmo or Robinson fail to hold their rotation spots, I would favor Mchale playing Tim Ohlbrecht at the backup 5 and moving Smith to the 4 before he plays Jones.

It's because he can't grasp the NBA game and what were trying to do. His college coach said the same thing at Kentucky. He has mental lapses were he get confused. If that was happening in the college level imagine what's going on in the pro game. T jones always had the skills and size to be a player in the NBA. The reason his draft stock fell like it did was because he doesn't have it upstairs. It's the same reaso. Why his playtime his sophomore yr in college was up and down and why he wasn't always on the court in critical situation last yr. he just doesn't grasp what a team organized game is. Maybe he'll figure it out maybe he won't. You can't say he is ready by some summer league performances which in theory is a pick up game with 75% of non NBA talents on the court.

Almost every player's summer league performance directly translated to how well they are doing this year in the NBA.

Terrence Jones should be no different if given a chance.

Uh, obviously. This is why I asked the question. He's done so well in summer league and d-league that it makes me wonder why he isn't getting playing time...

I hate to piss in your cereal but its obvious why Terrence Jones doesn't play - he's not good.

There is no offense to remember, really.

He just needs to have active legs and constantly keep moving to the open spots. It's really not that hard once you start moving around a lot.
