His stats with 3+ days of rest are a lot worse than his averages. It's been this way for years now.

Makes no sense to me. I would think he would do better with more rest. I can sort of see a rhythm and timing argument but those do seem to be things he can maintain in practice (or at least recover after a period or half).

Another ****ty game tonite reinforces the trend. I expected a huge game tonite and a nice win. Very disappointed and tired of this one step forward-one step back thing...

he can lose his stamina in 30 hours vs. normal player's 30 days.

Can we get all playoff games back-to-back then? With one day of rest between each back-to-back?

Yao likes to be challenged. There's no challenge if it's not a back-to-back. :p

i don't think it has anything to do with him rested more or less. tonight we played a very athletic team (same with the hawks whom we play tomorrow). and when we do, we usually have to overcome some disadvantage there. ifwe can't, we lose.

I remember JVG saying once that Yao needs a lot of repetition in practice to be effective. I could be that Yao lost his rhythm after so many days off from the great game against the Warriors.

well I guess Yao needs rhythm and pace to his routine, too much break inbetween games breaks up his rhythm

Well are his stats bad or worse? There's a difference. Like tonight his stats were down, but 50% shooting and 4 rebounds isn't a bad game, more like lack of acticity on his part.

I think its his mentality that is affected. He always starts off slow and his teammates have to tell him to be strong and mean. I think that sticks if there's a game the next night or or the night after that, but 3 days + and he goes back to being a gentle giant.

I know why... because he just didn't have it tonight. Sometimes he has it and sometimes he doesn't... it's just inconsistency. It doesn't have anything to do with how much rest you get or don't get. Either you have it inside and you produce it in action outside or you don't have it at all. Tonight he didn't have it and in crucial times like playoffs a lot of the players on the rockets just don't have IT! This year is a new chance to see what they will do this is the best eam they have had so lets just get everybody healthy and as a whole see what we can do. Yao still might not have IT all the way but I know Artest and T-Mac will in playoffs so that alone will get us out the first round. Yao just needs to hit his free throws when fouled and not turnover the ball just basically don't get hurt and do what you can do from night to night.

Yao only took 8 shots, thats not enough in a game for an allstar center.
The Rockets shot the ball ok against Memphis but there defense sucked cause we gave up a 109 points, way above average. The rockets seem to be inconsistent in their play.

Man, took Yao nearly 3 quarters to get his first rb. WTF.

He's so slow sometimes, tonight was one of those blocks of cement for feet nights.

Yao said in an Chinese interview that he is not all out right now since he doesn't want to get injured after 50 games or so. He did not have as much practice compared to his old days with JVG, because of the same reason. If Ron was decided not to play right after the previous game, Yso should have prepared himself well for this match up.

Pretty sure its a coincidence about him resting and playing bad games. Key to playing him is not to foul him and send him to the line, limit his FTs and he is a very average big man.

I would love to see the Yao's touches in this match soon. He didn't really have much touches 2night, did he?

I heap the blame on the guards' failure to pass the ball inside when Yao was fronted. When their center fronted Yao, why not just pass the ball over him and let Yao get the ****ing ball. If there was another opponent ready to protect and block Yao, then there must be another free Rockets player.

Fronting has been a lasting issue for the Rox, and Dick Adelman has no interest in solving it in practices?
