Hey guys, maybe you can tell me why the heck Yao Ming goes over to China and play with 5'1-5'3 guys that weigh barely over a hundred pounds every year. You will only get real competition by playing with real competeters in the N.B.A. That is the only way Yao can get better at his god gifted skills. Plus, Yao seems so exhuasted early in gams and I know he is tired out by playing overseas last summer. I don't understand how Wang ZU ZU got away from this whole thing of playing in the nba if you are not a us citizen or something like that. Wang basically told the Chinese govt that he refuses to play for them and he wanted to play against real nba players in the summer time. If Wang can do it, why can't Yao do it. I know Yao is very loyal, but there is a limit. I want to see Yao play for us 10-12 years, not 6-8 years at the most at the rate he is going now. Yao's body will start taking a toll on him, he needs to STOP playing in China during summer time. Plus, I heard that the China's govt gets like half of Yao's salary? Is that true, if yes that is not fair. What do you guys thing about this whole situation?

because Chinese gov. is a much complicated system and Wang's act were considered as sort of 'betrayal", it's all about politics, man:rolleyes:

Yao went this summer to play the Asian championships. Only the WINNER qualify for the next years Olympics. Plus the game is played IN CHINA. Do you think Yao can or should pass that?

Other players like Dirk and Peja also play for their respective countries, so Yao is not special. If anything, China produce one Yao Ming once in 100 years, do you think he will not play for China?

As for the money, I heard it was a fixed amount, not percentage. I think it wasn't very smart. But in China, the player are brought up by the country. The country put in a lot of resources in producing players, free accomodations, free travels etc, so I guess they felt they should get some'ing back. The American universities received the students' fee in the first place, and the players will bring some advertisement effect as well. So things are kind of different.

 YAO = Slave of the Chinese Basketball Association. The big fella should stay in the land of freedom and be granted U.S. citizenship.

Also Wang Zhi Zhi is a memeber of PLA, the army. He probably will face punishment for not obeying orders. At least I think that's what he's afraid of.

You want to know why he goes?

Because he wants to, because he's Chinese, and he loves it.

Yao has gotten bigger and better over the summer, so there's nothing to complain about.

I just have a question for u. Should Francis join the dream team and play for USA next year if he gets the invitation? By your logic, "why the heck Francis goes over to Athen and play with guys that mostly cant even make to the NBA. You will only get real competition by playing with real competitors in the N.B.A. That is the only way Francis can get better at his god gifted skills."

And who cares about Wang. Yao and Wang are two individuals and they make their own decisions about their life. Yao has chosen to play for his country and nobody can deny his right to do so, including rockets, u and me. If rockets want him to stay in US in the summer, they should have included this clause in the contract.

I dont know about the sharing of Yao's salary. But who cares anyway as it's the agreement between yao and the govt. Yao's a billion anyway.

That's absurd. Even players in China's men's soccer league average around 6ft. In fact even their women soccer players are taller than 5'1-5'3 on average. The players in their basketball leagues average around 6ft7.

Your parents lose about half of their income to the US government in taxes alone. Is that fair?

you sound like one of those americans who go abroad and complain about the foreigners.

Let's see how many complaints come at the half-way point in the season when Yao hits the wall again and his play drops off.

We've all seen how much more fatigued the NBA players get during the season when they have to play in the Olympics. Many NBA players say playing this much basketball can't be done, hopefully Yao is a different beast and will be able to prove them wrong.

He goes because he HAS to... we get the short end of this deal, always!! He cannot play year round for very long. The Rockets organization should've never agreed to letting him play year round. The organization should've played hardball in negotiations with China and it should've been either he plays here full time or over there full time. Mark my words, this year round playing will eventually catch up to him and we'll be the one's to feel the pain of it when he craps out in the playoffs or finals!! I love Yao, but year round playing is going to kill him.

    :(

    You are freaking ridiculous.

Play with 5'1-5-3'? The average height of the Chinese National team is 6'7" or 6'8". Just look at Bateer (6'11") with the Raptors and Wang (7'1") with Clippers.

Make a point when you have the fact!
