So why does Yao always gets a free pass?

Can you answer that for me other then your cliche use of the word heart, hard work and determination and do so without bias?

A better question is what has Yao done better then T-mac to help this team in the regular season and in the playoff?

The last time I've checked, neither has gone out of the first round. One thing is for certain and that is T-Mac has done a lot more in the playoff then Yao ever did and that's a fact. I don't have to look up any numbers or stats to prove anything b/c all of you have seen it with your own eye, during the SF and the T-Mac era. Its not T-Mac's fault that yao always gets eaten up by the likes of Boozer and Okur. Sure Yao has played great this season, and the main factor for this is b/c he's been relatively healthy and our bench has been deeper then it ever was in the past. Yet, you guys easily forget how T-mac help this short handed team reached the 22 game win streak last year.

T-Mac has no desire or no heart? C'mon now, unless you guys went into a coma during the playoff the last 3 yrs and have no clue what had happen, then I'm more then happy to dig out old classic threads of "Trade Yao for Bynum", "Trade Yao for Odom", "Yao is the weakest link", "Yao is soft and unreliable in the Playoff"....etc, well you get the point. There were rarely any T-mac hate thread during that time, only from the few who dislike the guys b/c they were the X only fan of you know who. Back to the question. Yes, T-Mac has no heart, that's why he goes out and gets 13Pts in 30 second just for fun. Yes, he has no desire to win that's why he put us on his back and got us out out of a 22pt deficit all by himself against the Jazz in game 6 last year while everyone else quit. I had assummed he did that b/c he thought it was a good excercise for next year. He also doesn't care about his teammates that's why he went up to Yao and strongly encouraging him to keep his head up during game 6 of an elimination game versus the Mavs where Yao was stinkin up the joint. I guess he did that just to waste his energy, which didn't keep him from hitting a couple of clutch shot to get us that win.

I really hate doing this kind thread b/c its not fair to our players(sorry yao : (. If this help put things in perspective considering Yao is sapposedly our best player, then I wouldn't have made it. This is the same freakin **** that happens every year. There's always someone to blame when things are not going well and there's always the same instigator who has no life outside of the Rockets other his love for beating up a dead horse to bring attention to himself and his followers. Last two years it was Yao b/c of his lack of playoff performance. This year its on T-Mac b/c we're not gelling as well as most would have liked, so its just easy to get the guys that's injured and use that and his past history to back up there arguments every chance they can get, even though his past is irrelevent to whats happening now. Its dispicable, pathetic and not what i would assumed a self proclaimed 20+ years veteran Rockets fan would say. Can you at least wait until after the season to hate a player...at least give him a chance redeem himself? I refuse to hate on our player unless he's wearing another uniform period. If you say that the Rockets are a team as a whole, then you would be hating on the Rockets if you hate on any of the players right?

He gets a free pass because he is hard working and uses all his energy for wins.

When Yao performs poorly, he owns up to it. He doesn't make excuses.

Okur is a 3 point shooting center. Bruiser is a dirty power forward.

Its not Yao's fault that he has guard Okur and be guarded by Bruiser.

I guess it didn't take eneergy to single handedly bring the Team back in Game 6 against the Jazz without a PG or a Center

lmao rotfl, man I love Yao hate threads

lets see why no picks on him

    54.2 % shooting FG (Top 10)
    86% shooting (Top 15)
19.6 ppg in 33 minutes on 13 shots

and he plays hard and is a likeable person, he is the slowest player in the NBA, jumps the least and is still a Star, thats why.

Yao does not get a free pass. Yao has played well most of the time over the last couple of months. Earlier in the season when he could not elivate his 7'6" frame high enough to dunk the ball he was getting slammed quite often.

If you wonder why Yao gets a free pass in the play offs then I don't think that is the case either. He got a good amount of critisism when the Rockets lost game seven at home to the Jazz a couple of years ago.

    Yao gets a pass because...

He has shortcomings, but owns up to them, and never claims to be anything more than what he shows on the court.

Everyone else who gets bashed regularly on the boards (Tracy, Rafer, Ron) are all shooting sub-40% from the field. Yao essentially puts up 20 points, 10 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field and an insane 86% from the line.

He plays hard, plays through injuries, and he always shows the proper dedication to his rehab.

And finally, when he has a bad game, he doesn't get a free pass. Anyone who reads the GARM after losses knows that.

Yao never got a free pass. Did you give Yao a free pass in this thread?

Not only Yao didn't get a free pass, he got accused by fans for things he didn't do. Things like he got owned by Okur despite Yao averaged 25/10 not too many games after he came back from mid-season injury.

After a major injury, Yao played much better in 4 months than Tmac played in 9 months, yet he still couldn't get any free pass.

The thing is when fans always bring up playoff failures, you never heard of them mentioning Yao. It's always tmac even though he produced more than Yao.

lol thanks for the sig. I agree with it in a way.

I think the media points our TMac more because of what happened in Orlando. He was up 3 games to 1 and started talking about the second round. At that point Detroit destroyed the Magic in the next 3 games and Tracy got ripped.

When Francis was here he was considered the franchise player even when Yao was here. So when Francis was traded for TMac, the former scoring champ was seen as the leader. Yao Ming was still seen as a work in progress so obvioiusly TMac boor the brunt of the blame.

Against the Jazz a couple of years ago Yao Ming did get hammered on this board pretty hard. Just as much as McGrady.

Well, Yao gets bashed just as much as tmac in my opinion. The only difference is that Yao has more supporters which leads to *** VS YOH battles.

Expectations. Tmac was like a superstar when he first came here. Someone posted earlier that at the time Yao was a work in progress which is true. He was still developing his game. The problem may be that Tmac is showing nothing but decline in his game while Yao always showed progress until recently.

Another reason may be because Yao didn't participate at all during the last playoff run. However, if Tmac doesn't make it to the playoffs but Yao does and we still lose in the first round, I'm almost certain Yao will receive the same kind of treatment from fans.

Free pass or not, Yao plays with heart. T-Mac never played with heart, only with his talent.

    You are just blind.
