why does the rockets put player on injured list?

    last year boki/collier/hawkins/and maddox were put on injured list when they wernt even injured....does the rockets get any benfits or anythin from doin this...i mean wat the point of you gettin player and then put his ass on injured list for year or so and pay him.......

    you can only have 12 active players on the roster. You gotta do something with those other 3 so you stick them on the injured reserve whether they are hurt or not

    NBA rules say that a team can only have 12 players available to play at any one time. The Rockets decided that they had 12 players that were better than Boki/Collier/Hawkins/Maddox last year. So they just chose their best players to keep on the active rosters and had to put the rest on the injured reserve. They did this so they didn't have to cut (fire) anybody. That way when one of their 12 better players actually got injured, they could just pull Boki or Collier or whoever off of the injured reserve and put the other player on it in their place. Every team does it, not just the Rockets.
