Why Does Everyone Think Battier Will Be The Magical Solution?

I think he'll bring alot more heart and hustle we have lacked. I think the bigger problem with this team is the play of our 3 "team leaders" who have shot horrible and only have had one or two good games a piece. The concern after that is a backup center, which LA and Boston have exploited. Then I think Battier comes in, so we don't see anymore sloppy defense and uncontested jumpshots from peg leg McGrady or ridiculous wide open game winning threes

 

I was thinking this same thing actually. I hope he is the magical solution but ... what if we're not that much better with him? I mean we can only play 5 people at a time.

What if when Shane gets back we still don't rebound as well or hustle as hard as we should? What if there is still defensive breakdowns? There will be no more "oh it's ok Shane's not here yet"...

I hope he is. I really do. But be ready for the fact that he *might* not. He's only human after all. I think. We have enough talent without him. Adding him should only be icing on the cake. He shouldn't be the answer to all our problems. That's too much weight on a guy who's metaphorical shoulders aren't meant to carry it.

 

I surely dont think that. One guy won't do it for us. I agree with us needing a backup Center and a solid PG but everyone here seems delusional think that Batman with come in and save the day and everything will be find. Lets just face it, we need some more changes!

 

Agree with the backup C who is at least 6'10 in height. Getting Deke would help. I would love a move for Sean Williams to the Rockets. Great leaping skills and excellent timing, the extra baggage can be handled by the veterans.
Having a very young yet potent front court of Carl and Sean could be our future.

On the PG situation, I say start AB now. Let rafer be the backup. Rafer should be put in the game for defensive purposes. I think we're focusing too much on running the offense, instead of just playing.

Shane's return should help us in our transition and team defense as whole.

I think strong leadership is what we lack right now. Our big three hasn't found their roles yet while playing together. They're just letting the other guy play his game then just waits for his turn. They should be feeding off one another's strengths to make them the big three we envision.

Tmac, Yao, and Ron please step up your leadership and communicate. It would be ok to clash in opinions at the start, just pick up the positives from it.

Because in my opinion it will put Artest coming from the bench bringing a better balance and intensity and tons of intangibles that help you win games.

Today Gasol have a great day and bynum wasn't that good and only have 7 boards. Was their bench that pretty much destroy us. Playing Yao only 27 minutess doesn't help either.

When we shoot a low % and allow a high % the other team will have more Rebounds opportunities. Like today we got more offensive board than they but got out rebound badly. Why? Because if you don't socre the other team will get a lot of bard when they score at will, well you don't get as many chances to rebound.

Battier will help Houston make sure the other team don't shoot a higher % helpings us get more rebound per game.

He'll make us a little better but we are more than a Batman away from competing with the Lakers and the Celtics.

The most important reason is that he hasn't played yet, so we can leave certain things to imagination.

 

When everything looks hopeless, fans want to believe in something. Funny thing is, when Battier comes back and we start winning, is it really because of Battier or because our stars are starting to step up?
