please tell me what our better option is. Rafer shoots the three relatively well, handles the ball well, can penetrate (one of the few who can create shots for other players) yet he's garbage. However, you guys line up to give VSpan a reach around when the dude coulodn't even styart on a YMCA team. He's not good at anything. He doesn't even wave a towel correctly. He sits there and pouts.

Rafer misses shots. He is clutch in the 4th though. TMac lost us the game tonight whther you want to ackn oledge thaty our not. Rafer is what he is. Stop bashing the dude when you supoort players far worse.

Nobody is bashing Rafer for the sake of bashing him.

We are not winning with him. Start Vspan and lets see (for more then 5 games coach Gundy) what we have.

If Vspan is worse then we can go back to Rafer. No harm done.

Where is Bob Sura when you need him. :(

    What you have in spanoulis-

    Terrible Shooter
    Bad passer
    Poor decision maker
    Good defender
    Unconfident player

Not to mention the team probably doesnt trust him either.

If you play anyone then play lucas

And you base that on the 50 minutes we have seen from him this season?

If Spanoulis starts and shoots 0 for 3 with 5 turnovers (not hard to imagine) then I would say harm has been done.

Sorry, but the Pacer game is not on Rafer. He played well, and hit a big shot at the end.

If he was that bad, how did he and his team beat Team USA? I understand he is inconsistent and turnover-prone, but don't you see the potential?

Yao Ming compared him to Steve Nash. Then again, T-Mac said Novak was the best shooter he had ever seen, and the guy doesn't get off the bench either...

I bash him because he kills our team many games. Right now we don't have better options at PG. All I'm asking JVG to do is pull him out sooner when he stinks and give JL3 more minutes. And maybe give V-Span a shot here and there. If the backups stink too then put Rafer back in and play him 40 minutes.

...because the season is probably lost (as far as being in contention to win it all; we still have an outside shot of making the playoffs), and I would rather develop potential talents than play a lost cause in Rafer Alston.

He sucks donkey balls, and there is no explanation for it; he isn't injured, he doesn't have the flu, he is not still trying to regain his form due to a long layoff...he just plainly sucks as a starting PG.

You're right, we don't have many options left (we don't have any quality at the PG or the PF positions, or even a backup center). I don't blame him because I know he isn't a starting-caliber PG on a good team and he's being asked to do something he isn't, I blame Rox management more so for their crappy personnel decisions and their inability for years now to properly address their needs at the PG AND the PF positions (especially the PF position).

You know you suck at PG when you're a PG and your starting PG is dubbed our "only option". And they bring in a hybrid PG/SG (Lutha) to handle the ball when he gets tired. lol. Seriously, after having watched VSpan play, he really is a step slow on d and a step too fast/wild on offense which causes the turnovers he's prone to.

I think Rafer's play is 50-50. He has made several clutch shots and big plays on defense to start or continue runs. The problem is he makes just as many bonehead offensive and defensive plays.

So with that said, your choice is a guy that just sucks or a guy that sucks half the time but is a hero the other half (whether others recognize you as such or not).

    I'll take the part-time hero.

Also, if you think JVG is going to train a player in what could be a make-or-break year for his coaching career, you're nuts. He wants to win first, and from what's been seen to this point, VSpan is not conducive to that end. :)

Rafer is best IMHO when the 'stars' are alihned ON the court and things are going well.

VSpan will be a contributor, but likely next year.

Dre Miller is the man I've wanted for some time. Sammy, if healthy, would be good for this group. Delonte West is a Rock waitging to happen (I wish). Where is Antonio Daniels when you need him???

Rafer is what he is, true that.
But this team needs him to be Tony Parker, or at least Mike James. This is why he sucks.
