I'm looking to start recycling I just curious why . . .you personally don't recycle if you do . . . Can you help me out I'll try to separate the food from the plastic from the metal from the paper but my question . . . .. Where to take them? Rocket River
i do like crazy...fortunately, there is a recycling pickup in my neighborhood. but i'm nuts about recycling...obsessive. it makes a TON of sense to me.
I recycle everything I can nowadays. I didn't used to recycle when all they had was those little green bins that could barely hold anything. Now that my area finally got these big recycling carts...I recycle like mad. If your city is organized with their recycling program, then it makes it a hell of a lot easier. It seems like it took a lifetime but my city finally got organized about their recycling program. It used to be complete and utter disarray.
I'm in Minnesota and we set out the recyclables on trash day. We can mix everything together (cans, paper, plastics, cardboard, etc.). Before going to the trouble of separating, check with the center (once you find one).
I'm pretty obsessive about recycling, too. I've been know to fish around in the garbage until I find the can or bottle I accidently tossed in there. If I don't, I feel guilty for the rest of the day. We have curbside recycling for paper, plastic and cardboard. For glass, I save them up and then take them to the Westpark facility: http://www.ci.houston.tx.us/swd/westpark.htm
We get re-cycling containers alongside our county-issued garbage cans. Pick up is on the same day. Piece of cake and sensible, too!
Unfortunately, despite my complaints, my current apt. complex, Greystone Park does not have recycling accomodations. Hopefully I'll be happier when I move into my new place at the end of month.
Support your local petrochemical-based economy, throw away your plastics I only recycle newspapers because of convenience.
i stay here in a town called avondale estates about 3 minutes from atlanta. it's the home of the first waffle house ever. they charge a fee to pick up your recycle bin if you put it out there. kinda silly. that's why i don't recycle.
Well you see in Houston it is AGAINST THE LAW to recycle. Anyone caught doing so will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Seriously though. During my 4 month hiatus in Houston, I asked my apartment complex girls where the recycling center was. They both looked at me like I was on crack. "Recycling??" (laugh).... "No we dont have anything like that." They make it very difficult for you to recycle in Houston... Depending upon where you live (some neighborhoods/communities are definitely better than others) In Austin on the other hand.... Its a given wherever you go or live.
Oh, recycling is useless. Once the sun burns out, this planet is doomed. You're just making sure we spend our last days using inferior products.
