Why do we think/hope Brooks is gonna be traded for Melo?

I realized I was one that thought that even made a thread where I didn't realize that Kmart was a possibility, which was just dumb of me.

But I realize the Nuggets have Billups AND Ty Lawson. Billups is now, Lawson is the future, where exactly would Brooks fit into their plan? I know they are enamored w/ Lawson and I can't blame them he looks like he could be special.

Martin makes A LOT of sense, they want to rid themselves of JR Smith, and they don't really have a very good SG on the team. I can also see them just wanting a bunch of expirings + picks, but Martin is WAY more likely just because it gives the Nuggets a chance to stay competitive.

Obviously this is not everyone's opinion on this board, but I think Melo is something special, I remember an article (can't find) stating he is a changed player since playing w/ Billups. He said he was really young and impressionable which is why he did really stupid things when AI was the guy to look up to, once Billups came in, he became a whole new player because he relearned work ethic from him.

I can imagine with Yao and possible Battier (if he isn't in the trade), Melo will see how hard people work which IMO can only be good for him. A motivated/dedicated Melo is as good as anyone in the NBA, yes I am saying that includes Lebron and Durant. Melo is one of maybe 5 players in the NBA right now that can take over a game and take over a 4th quarter when a team truly needs it.

Sorry that became more than just a rant about Brooks, but whatever.

There are various threads that you could have posted this in.

There is a reason why the Mods stickied the Melo thread, so the GARM wouldn't be fluttered with these types of threads.

    Mods lock this one up.

Stop wasting posts saying "this thread could have been in various other ones blah blah blah"

I think this thread is somewhat unique at least and deserves a bit of attention. I dont think the issue is with brooks himself. It's with posters not looking at things from the other team's perspective/over valuing our players. It's happened many times over and will continue to happen.

However, in this particular instance trading brooks is still viable. If we were to trade for Melo and history repeats itself, there will likely be a third team involved. Morey seems to be inclined to take part in multi team deals. So anyways, if we speak in terms of outgoing players it is understandable to include brooks. Though, this makes things complex and its why morey is gm and not me :)

This. We are not trading or including Kevin for Carmelo. If the trade happens, it will be a multi-team trade and Brooks will be moved to one of the other teams not Denver.

I HOPE Brooks gets traded because I feel comfortable with Lowry running the squad even if his outside shot isn't at AB's level and would like to see what Martin, Melo and Yao could do on the court at the same time. Honestly, don't think Martin will get moved because it just doesn't feel right so AB would be the next logical choice. You, however, have layed out good reasons why that may not appeal to Denver and instead Martin may be more of a carrot.

If no 3 team trade happens most likely denver might still want a package that includes Brooks, Hill, Jeffries, 2 NY picks and maybe even budinger i hope he stays tough but not a deal breaker. Im pretty sure morey is pushing this package because it includes marketable youth, draft picks, and cap relief.
For us this is great because we could easily replace a point guard I hope denver bites.

IMO trading AB before trading Lowry is just not kosher, there are reason's that we have AB starting. Just go back to the times when we had rafer and see why we need a pg who can at least hit a shot. I also think people exaggerate the difference in Lowry and AB's passing ability. Lowry is the Backup and I feel more comfortable playing AB with Yao, as many have stated before AB and Kevin Martin space the floor better for Yao. That said if we had a choice of trading Lowry or Brooks in a trade for Melo, 900 time out of 10 I would chose Lowry.

Every team in the league would like to trade away their bench players but denver is not gona take that.

Good points, from my view point I see Brooks as being unnecessary with Melo on the team. In a universe with Melo on the Rox, I would rather have a pg who would get everyone else involved and while we loose AB's outside shot Lowry is more of a guy who will push the ball and get easier fast break buckets. I like seeing Lowry setup Martin, Melo and Scola for open shots and Yao's spacing to give Martin and Melo open 3s and Scola wide open 18 foot jumpers.
