So, you're a sports memorabilialist.... so what? I have ZERO Francis anything cards, and ZERO Barkley cards. In fact, I have ZERO Rocket basketball cards. I don't think anyone has ever questioned me being a fan. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
That post of F&BR reminded me of Jack Handy crossed with LHutz. Eegad. ------------------ <this space for rent> [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited April 16, 2000).]

Hey francisandbarkleyrule: Maybe everyone has been looking at your name a little to hard!!!!! ------------------ Walt the Wizard Williams. "The aging Terrapin from Maryland"
francisandbarkleyrule, Just back off a little. Listen to what people are telling you. The fans who have been around for a while have a reason for feeling the way they do -- and you can't ignore history. Also remember, if you give an in your face comment, you'll get an in your face answer. That's the nature of a BBS. It doesn't have to be personal -- don't make it that way. Give reasoned, thought out questions and responses, and you'll get good answers. On the Hakeem front -- remember that everyone here is torn. It's not easy to see your idol falling from grace, or to find out that the legend is only human. Every athlete has to face the realities of age and injury sooner or later -- Barkley has seen the writing on the wall, and a decade or so down the road, Francis will too. When you've stood in the sun, it makes it that much harder to balance not wanting to give up the game, and the desire to make a graceful exit. Jordan was fortunate to be able to pick his time. Barkley had his choice made for him, but I doubt he regrets leaving near the top of his game. Hakeem had hoped to pick his time, and still does. His physical difficulties have upset his plans, and made his decision much more difficult. Not a thing we say here will affect his decision. So try to be a little more sensitive to those who have looked up to the man, and want him to be able to leave on his terms. If you think he should step aside, fine. Say so. But don't knock the man when he's down. This board is reactive, but also very forgiving. Put a little more thought into your responses, and you'll be OK. Believe me, if Clutch, Jeff, DREAMer or countless others gave up the first time they p***d someone off, this would be a very empty place. ------------------
Use a little more care with the spelling and grammar too. Not that I have any desire to be the grammar police, but phrases like "whatz his good on the team," do get annoying. ------------------
I'm pretty new to this forum myself...but I figured out early on what pissed people off. If it would piss someone off to say something in a real conversation...it'll probably piss them off on this forum. It's kind of common sense. My advice: Take it easy. Some people got pissed at me for calling Mihm just another tall, white guy. People on this forum can be kind of touchy on certain subjects. Its better to read some of the topics to get the hang of how to do it first. Then think...then post. You'll have it down in no time. Have fun! ------------------ You can't stop F&Brule, you can only hope to contain him.
