I don't understand why Parsons is described by some is as nonathletic. He's 6'10" and can stay in front of almost every player in the league. He's had some highlight reel dunks this season and we've seen him break down people off the dribble and blow by them for a layups. Can someone explain to me why they think he's nonathletic?
Who has said that? He is probably the third most athletic white American behind Bud and Love in this league.
People automatically assume a 'black' person is athletic and a 'white' person is not, that's the sole dumb racist stereotype reason
Nobody says he's not athletic. He just doesn't have elite, superstar level athleticism. He's a pretty good athlete.
I was hoping that wasn't the case but I leaning towards that conclusion. He's going to be the next Larry Bird.
Morey said in a recent interview that if you track the Rockets past draft picks Budinger and Parsons you will realize some of the deficiencies in NBA teams evaluating talent by the way they have drafted. Interesting stuff.
agreed Parsons is not athletic enough to make it a topic of conversation. I feel he has average athleticism compared to other NBA players. This is what makes his play so fun to watch; he uses what he has. You don't have to be a supreme NBA athlete to play defense by the way. Parsons puts himself in the right positions to be successful. Bud's athleticism is thread worthy but you wouldn't know he could dunk the way he plays. Imagine Bud's athleticism in Parsons body
Yep... the "because he's white" argument is silly too. We have two white guys on this team who are more athletic than Parsons: Dragic and Budinger. Nobody is saying Parsons is a bad athlete though. Like I said, he's a pretty good one... he's an NBA starter, after all. He doesn't wow you with his explosiveness or anything, but he's not bad at all.
