Obviously not all of them do, but after watching the GOP and Santorum looking like a lost child I wanted to know what the BBS thought.

i dont think they hate us at all. there are extremist everywhere, including the us. in my brief travel to the middle east i never got the impression that they hated us, nor from my studies. the media sensationalizes things and makes our relationship look worse than it is. they dont like some of our policies, they dont hate us. this imo is easily fixed. give them back their dignity and stop kissing israel's arse...

I don't think its just like intercontinental "bloods & crips" between the CITIZENS of the countries. Where just the mere sight of the other person draws automatic hostility

The people don't like the meddling corrupt POLITICS of the LEADERS.

*Edit: a lot what the previous poster said...*

This is a pretty bad poll.

Also, I'd guess most people even in the US probably don't know Santorum, much less someone from the Middle East.

My own thoughts on how many poorer countries view the US is similar to how natives look at colonization. The US pseudo-colonization of countries through corporations, media, and military bases brings about many extreme emotions both ways.

Some of the hate IMO is unavoidable in today's world of global economy and the US leading the way. That said, it's not like the government has helped over the years either.

It was pretty sad watching Santorum get applauded for that line, and then watching Ron Paul get booed for methodically listing every real reason the Middle East hates us.

These people are delusional and are simply incapable of handling the truth. Dangerous to have them anywhere near an elected office, let alone the White House.

My experience is that people tend to love America and the concept of America. They frequently love entire chunks of American culture, although they can be picky. What they often do hate, however, is our government. Not democracy, but rather a particular American government. Republican ones are "hated" more often than Democratic ones. Folks in some parts of the world still have a photo of Jack Kennedy in their abode, and it is out of a sense of rapt admiration for the man, now passed down generations. He's been gone for a while now.

They dislike the inflated power the US has over their own governments at the expense of the people's preferences and national sovereignty.

They also are justifiably pissed off over the US double standard for Israel.

My guess is that our support of kings and dictators has as much to do with their hate as our direct warfare.

This is not even a debate (well not a logical debate between people who can think). The concept of people hating the USA as a result of their freedom is laughable.

If the USA was hatred as a result of their freedom wouldn't other countries who are also free also be hatred (like The Netherlands, the Scandinavian countries etc).

ron paul was 100% right and santorum came off like the stupid, simplistic child he is.

even if you believe the official story it was bin laden who said the attacks were due to three things...

    1) our support of israel
    2) presence of u.s. troops in muslim holy lands
    3) our support of the house of saud

was just watching cnn and they said paul went too far and they said the only person he would appeal to w/ that comment is michael moore.

And yet Paul was booed and Santorum was cheered.

Nationalists are amazingly stupid. Patriots are downright nuts.

While there may be some of that, I think you're kind of missing a huge causal link.

Santorum does sound like an idiot. They hate us because of our freedoms??

C'mon. If that were the case Amsterdam would be attacked daily as they have prostitution, legal drugs etc. and Europe has much more social freedoms than we do in the US.

Do people really believe that nonsense?

I always applaud Ron Paul's insistence on saying what he believes and not succombing to being a politician. Though I don't believe in much of what he says I respect his real'ness'.

i almost posted a david cross clip where he basically says the exact same thing.

here it is - LANGUAGE NSFW!!!

"ARE WE A NATION OF SIX YEARS OLDS...ANSWER YES"

    <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EM202BVLf78" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

i like that when the audience booed he didnt back down, rather kind of indignantly and forcibly told them "im trying to make you people understand their motives".
