Simple question, be nice (that goes for you too TheFreak ). Is it because she's a strong woman? Is it because of WhiteWater? Is it because she puts up w/ an infidel? I don't get it. BTW, If it's something like "I just hate democrats", then I can buy that one; it just seems that conservatives pay an inordinate amount of attention to this one particular woman. remember ne nice ... that weirdo AM stuff you guys believe doesn't go very far in the land of the real people
I think she's a self-serving opportunist. Of course, many will say "so are all politicians", but I think she is just much, much worse. She doesn't think she's accountable to anyone (wouldn't answer ANY questions during the Senate race). My feelings about politics just became super cynical when the Clintons showed up. I mean I seriously don't flat-out dislike many other politicians, but I just really have a distaste for the Clintons. If you're looking for some list of specific incidents, sorry, I'm simply too lazy to comply with that request. They just really perfected the art of playing on the ignorance of the masses and taking advantage of the stupidity of the public. Also, what makes her a 'strong woman'? Wouldn't a 'strong woman' divorce that scumbag? You could just as easily ask 'why do people LIKE Hillary'? I get the feeling it's mostly because so many people don't.
I think it is because she comes off as arrogant and smug. Not to mention that Hillary and her hubby have done some really horrible things...allegedly.
This is true to a point. I recently learned of an infraction by a member of my family that I respect very much (not similar to Clinton) and it turns out his wife stays with him, with his balls in a vise. Why does she stay with him? I don't really know, but everyone seems to think it's just faith and family. I admit that I'm somewhat dubious about the dedication in their family, but as soon as I write that I feel as if I have done some incredible injustice by judging them. This is just partisan claptrap. This probably has a bit of truth to it. Had the republicans just ignored the Clintons, democrats wouldn't have become galvanized in their defense, lol. I have a few images in my head, images that you're probably refering to(o?). At the time I always wondered if she was just furious w/ her husband for embarrassing her so much.
I think it mainly stems from their resentment over her leading the charge for universal healthcare. So much of the Hillary bashing started with the 'she thinks she's President' lines. And now they are afraid she is well respected enough to become the first woman President, and that REALLY scares them. So I guess mainly its sexism under a thin-veil.
To me, she always had that arrogance and seemed to be looking down her nose at those who viewed the world differently from herself. It really was just an attitude thing to me, as if she thought she were given all the answers and anyone who disagreed with her was not someone who just happened to disagree, but someone who was flat-out wrong. And if you happen to be someone who disagrees with a goodly portion of her beliefs, that attitude can be extremely annoying (just as listening to Limbaugh can be annoying to those who disagree politically with him.... or even us Republicans who think he's not at all representative of our beliefs). Of course, there are no shortage of such people in the world, especially in the political realm. She was just very high profile since she was the First Lady, and her personality just often lent itself to having those qualities I didn't like thrust out into the open. She has one of those personalities that makes you either love or hate her. There are probably very few people who don't have strong feelings one way or another about Hillary Clinton. (For that matter, there likely aren't that many people who don't have a strong opinion, one way or another, about Rush Limbaugh).
Now, as Heb and others know around here, I am the last person to post something about politics, but when I read this question, Refman's quote is the first thing I thought of.
If it was just that, then why would the dislike fall so squarely on partisan lines? For instance, you could say the same about Bush: he thinks his position is correct, and if you don't agree you are just wrong. You could say it about Scalia. You could say it about Newt, or (God help us) Helms. You could say it about Reagan. Yet you don't see people like Ref saying 'I just didn't like Reagan because he just always though he was right, and he let you know it. I mean, c'mon, he kept saying "There you go again" which I just found patronizing and so arrogant..."
But when annoying people agree with you, they don't seem so annoying, do they? Disagreeing with her positions is the start of it. When that attitude or arrogance or smugness or whatever is heaped on top of that, it is what changes it from simply disagreeing with her to actively disliking her. The same sort of thing happens on this board in many political discussions. There are some obnoxious people on here, but the obnoxiousness doesn't bother me until they're being obnoxious in presenting an opinion I disagree with.

They just really perfected the art of playing on the ignorance of the masses and taking advantage of the stupidity of the public.

Why do people hate Cuttino? Does the fact he perfected the art of playing of the slowness of the masses combined with taking advantage of not having to be accountable for his stupid play to be only one of 3 men to increase pts and fg% in each of the last 4 years grate on the nerves of the public. oh, had how about those 6 assists last night and 4 blocks. man, the white conservative purists must hate that.
Hillary's actions during President Bush's address to Congress after 9/11 made me livid. Her behavior was atrocious. At a time when even the most partisan of her Democratic colleagues stood united with the president, Hillary shunned patriotism for petulance. She grimaced mockingly. She sighed. She rolled her eyes. Her forced effort at clapping was obvious and shameful. She's UN-AMERICAN, and that's why I don't like her.
Have y'all heard the stories about her being "Queen" of the White House? Apparently staff and others were not allowed to talk to her unless she approached them first. Heck, I've heard she got pissed when her "underlings" dared to make eye contact with her great presence. She comes off as an arrogant b*tch. She married Bill to ride his coattails into the political spotlight. Her carpetbagging in New York is attrocious and I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet. It was nothing but a grab at power because now that's she's tasted the limelight she can't stand to be out of it. She really stands for nothing. I mean the only reason I think she's even a Democrat is because she thinks it is a better way for her to be in power. What the heck is her platform? Being a controlling b*tch?
RiceRocket1's description also includes Nancy Reagen and Martha Stewart. We hate all three. But at least Martha and Hillary are actually smart with a purpose in life. Nancy is a b****!!!
I see your point heyp. At the same time, there is no way in hell I want Nancy or Martha Stewart to ever be President either so at least I'm fair.
Count me as one of the few. I never thought Bill should have had her running the health care reform stuff... I think that misjudgement and subsequent ones set true reform back many years when it is needed yesterday. I also thought it was a mistake to campaign as "two for the price of one" or whatever saying they were using. At the same time, she has taken some atrocious hits... suggested affairs, suggested lesbian affairs, suggested murders... some of the Whitewater-related stuff was beyond the pale. How anyone can face the vitriol she has and remain standing is beyond me. I felt uneasy about the whole New York race, but was ultimately glad she won. I think she's a decent Senator but at this point I would not vote for her in a Presidential primary, though I could see her as a second level cabinet member. She shouldn't run for President because I think the job is beyond her and if she does run, she will be subject to fierce and numerous attacks by the Right. (I wonder if we need to go through that-- but if I were called upon as counsel I would say go for it because if you let that be the determining factor then the evil, lying, spinning bastards on the Right have won... so bring it on.) So yeah, her enemies have something to do with her appeal. In sum, she always struck me as someone with strong (and decent) goals who never quite conquered or made peace with the means to achieve them. She seems to have the classic political personality... massive ego (vote for me because I'm the best one to represent you) coupled with massive insecurities (more people voted for me which means they really like me). I like her in the Senate and wish she would stay there. Anyway, I'm ambivalent. And I can't stand Limbaugh.
So a power-hungry guy is a go-getter. But a power-hungry woman is a 'controlling b****'. Right. Got it.
Ms. Rodham-Clinton plays politics like the Jazz play basketball. She's the Utah Jazz. That's why I hate her.
