Why didn't we go for Perkins?

We were looking for a a legit center and I believe Perkins was the best prospect. Considering that Boston was looking for an atheletic type of player like Green, I think we could have done something.

Who are you willing to give for a legit center?

Boston was showing interest in Shane I believe so I think I could have packaged Jordan Hill or Bud (aka Larry's bird).

    Why why why.

I don't even think Bud+Hill+Bat is a better package than Green. Celtics probably saw Green's potential to be a star, not three role players

Green's a very enticing piece. Young, athletic wing that can fill the void behind Pierce now, as well as contribute long-term.

Morey didn't have anything at his disposal close to Green's value. He's a proven commodity in this league, and can step in and make noise on a championship contending squad today.

Battier alone can make a difference.

Because Morey is way overrated on this board.

Boston got Green out of the deal, who is better than any young big we have to offer on a bad day and better than any of our bigs on the good day. Are you seriously asking this?

Jeff Green is not a star... he has been in the league for 4 years and is actually declining in stats.

Battier would have been a better option for this if they believe their window for a championship is for this year. He would be a perfect fit for the Celts coming off the bench and guarding Kobe, Dwade, LeBron, etc.

Because Perkins expires at the end of the season too and if we don't resign him, the trade was a waste. Dragic + 1st Round >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Perkins. We can still try getting Perkins in the off-season if we want to.

Kendricks also would not have stayed with us. He wants to test the FA market in the summer, he said.

    I mentioned this.

    Perkins = FA agent.

The guy is getting 4mil, he was going to leave Boston for the most money and I'm guessing he'll do the same to OKC. Whoever gets Perk is going to pay for him.

I believe ESPN said Perkins is in the last year of his contract and looking for a major pay upgrade, which was part of the reason Boston traded him. There is no guarantee we would be able to keep him if we did trade for him and he is another supporting cast piece, not a star you can build around. He would have made us better today, but might not have stayed past this year.

Why bother trading for Perkins when you could just sign him in the offseason and use your assets in another deal or simply retain them ?

In what world is a 30 year old vet, better than a young players with potential who has better stats than the 30 year old vet?

Guys it's not Morey being overrated, it is our players.

Jeff Green has potential to be very very good in this league, he was playing out of position @ the 4 in OKC because they had this really good 3, named Kevin Durant (maybe you guys have heard of him?), and still performing fairly well.

If he is 6th man for Celtics, he could be very good.

We had to add a wing player and a back up big man.

    Battier and Chuck Hayes/Scola

They don't take any young players from us
    Contenders just don't
