I saw a couple of things about him in the couple of weeks leading up to the draft. I was surprised that a team didn't take a flyer on him in the second round. Maybe he is still too raw but wouldn't it then be like Malik Badaine's situation.
Exactlly, you can't teach height, so at least this kid sucks more than Shawn Bradley or have some major injury issues, I don't see why can't a team take the chance, especially since he is a free agent right now. It wouldn't hurt to sign him to a minium contract and see how he does.
He honestly has no game..just height and i think there was enough talent in the draft this year for no one to take him even with a second round pick. He will eventually get drafted because of his height...he didn't even start playing basketball till he was like 18 and i am pretty sure he is not a Hakeem type player to just become great at it.... In my opinoin he will be drafted one day because of sheer hieght but nothing more to come out of it...even though he is my countryman lol... But even we know he sucks and yeah, he is very hard on the eyes...lol
We should also trade Taylor and Howard for Bradley and Podkolzine. Our new lineup could be: McGrady Jaber Podkolzine Bradley Yao
ha, that game where he "held" yao to 15 pts was where yao played only a third of the game b/c china was kicking tail. still, you can't teach height, so it really depends on his development, but maybe he could do something on a team like the bobcats or something.
He reminds me of the creature from that old black and white "Nosferatu" The plus is that he played alot of soccer in Iran and played goalkeeper. Just remember that Dream was big on soccer and attributed his quickness to that. It's apparent his skills are very raw, but I would have given him a chance over Badaine.
One big difference being that Hakeem was naturally 7 feet tall. This kid has Gigantism disease caused by the patuitary gland disorder. He doesn't know how to move his body well as a player in basketball and won't have the overall speed and mobility that we think of when we think of hakeem or any player with height and agility.
The Dream comparison was that perhaps his hand/eye coordination could potentially be on the level that Dream was at when he started at UH. I was mainly thinking of those documentaries where then, "Akeem," started at UH and the idea that he already had great blocking ability because of his passion and background in soccer.
im sure no other team didnt draft this guy because he is from Iran. IRAN people. There is a lot of baggage with that.
There is a good reason that the 29 other teams in the NBA passed on him as well. The kid would be a huge project. He has played very little basketball in his life. And as someone mentioned, he's from Iran.
