Such a weird signing Sengun Garuba Wood all going to demand C minutes. And we got Theis at 9 mill a year to hamper their growth??? Man Sengun looks good so far.
He can play until our rookies are more nba ready in the season. And it’s not a bad contract and can easily be moved.
His defense is much needed for Wood, and his screen will give a nice path to the rim for KPJ, JG, KJ.
He’s on a 4 year reasonable deal that will look better in a season or two. Easily moveable asset and role player since we don’t have depth at C.
I guess Wood could be trade fodder (he doesn’t have the trade kicker that Theis just received) but let’s remember Wood is made of kindling, God love him. And the rookies will hit that wall at some point or another.
We will probably trade Theis at the deadline to a contender for assets. Someone like Brooklyn could use him and they have a trade exception they can absorb him into.
Yay - our rookie had a big game in the SUMMER LEAGUE Totally different story playing against seasoned pros. Also, there are 2 "big man" positions, as long as your bigs can stretch the floor. 96 minutes of PF and C. Plenty of time for everybody
I can think of a few reasons: Allows Wood to spend more time at the 4 Shores up our interior D next to Wood or Sengun Great trade asset in the next couple of years to contenders
Many of y'all (not necessarily OP) need to vastly lower your expectations of what talented 19 year-olds can get done in an actual NBA game vs. grown NBA men. Those of y'all expecting Green to average over 20ppg and Sengun over 10 rebs when only 19yo are going to be really disappointed. I will happily eat my words, btw
