Why did we never try to give Shane Battier a FO position?

Apologies if we DID try to offer him a FO position, but I don’t remember doing so.

If we didn’t purse him, why not?

If we did, why didn’t he accept?

    Does anyone know these details?

Just curious thoughts I have, after Pat Riley committed a highway robbery the other day on Stone. Shane Battier shares the same vision as Morey, and I have no doubt he’d excel in a GM/President of Basketball Ops position.

It would've been futile if we got him a position anyway.

His last name doesn't end in Tilman, therefore he'd be out of the decision making process in a few years anyway and basically useless to the owner.

From what I’ve heard in interviews he really enjoys his beer and golf. I’m not sure if he wants a demanding gig. He’s content in Miami with his role.

This and he's too smart to work for Tilman.

Shane may not have fond memories of his time as a Rocket. When I think of Shane as a Rocket, I mainly remember blood. I think he got stitches pretty much every game.

The Rockets under Daryl Morey offered Battier a job several times and he always passed. He is in Miami now I believe.

Shane is actually pretty sharp, he already has a pretty high position with the Heat. Right now Miami would be the place to be, and he seems happy there. Riley is also 76 years old, so there may be a plan in place for Shane to take over as GM there. Jerry West moved from a GM role to a board member role, so I think that is what will likely happen with Pat in the next couple of years, unless hes getting some of that same juice that Wade and Lebron were on in Miami.

“Shane, you got a laptop at home? How much data on your cell plan? Got any matches?”

    “Why?”

“No more electricity due to budget cuts. You get two pencils a week, and a candle but no matches. Also we no longer validate parking.”

    “Funny”

“Oh and the ******* won’t work anymore, water is cut off. You can drop a deuce in the plant pot by the window.”

You guys realize we never hear about most of the job offers/interviews in the front office, right? Anything less than General Manager there likely isn't making news. We have no way of knowing who they have offered jobs to. For all we know, Bballholic has disappeared because they hired him into the front office.
