Are we in win now mode? That's how I took it when we went after KD. We didn't get KD so we can keep holding on to our chips and try to stay relevant year after year. As constructed, do we have enough to win the title? My opinion is no. Not sure what our front office is going to do at the trade deadline. To me, you don't waste KD's time as a Rocket and maximize your window of winning the title while he's here and by doing that, we finally have to let go of our assets and try to win our first championship since 95.
No problem getting KD, and seeing if would help accelerate things, but you can't now panic and try to build around a 37 year old aging player. The problem isn't that we made the trade the problem is that we didn't have the proper plan to keep developing while he was here. DD
Because of his internet presence. Can you imagine talking schit about the rockets with this dude in a comments section? RIP
I always thought it was a win/win because we get to dump Jalen Green and we also add Kevin Durant. Never saw it as an "all-in" move, nor did I ever see us as true contenders. I think the team will perform better in the regular season, and go further in the playoffs, than they would have without the trade. That added playoff experience has value, even if we don't win or make the finals. I think getting to play with KD and getting more playoff games is really valuable for our young guys and will accelerate their development. To your point about "wasting" KD, I don't think there's any move we could make that would put us ahead of the thunder. And I don't think you should ever go all in with a losing hand. So I don't support any "all in" move that would keep us as underdogs in the west.
Is DD conversing with one of his own burner accounts? In any case, no surprise his was the first response.
One of the craziest things that I see happen on a daily basis is Durant being questioned. I actually liked Jalen Green ok But I still think it was a great trade. I think we have a chance with any team in the league in a seven game series and frankly I think We would be favored against many opponents. Personally, I think the team is yelling as the season goes. I don’t think this is the exact perfect mix, but I think that the Durant window is more than just a year. I definitely want to maximize this year but at the proper opportunity cost while acknowledging our potential over the next few seasons. The Post KD era in my mind starts for sure with Amen and Reed. After that it is TBD in my brain.
Well, the idea was to pair KD wither our championship-winning, veteran point guard leader. I think the season would be a different story. Not saying we would have been the undisputed number one or anything, but it was pretty obvious that VanVleet's injury was going to put a major wrench in our plans. WIthout VanVleet it 's KD with a bunch of young guys still trying to find their way and develop some consistency. There's just not enough diversity of experience on the floor.
We also could lose to any team...you really confident in beating the Blazers in a series. I guess we really do have time to gel and see what team we have after the deadline.
I didn't want to trade for KD, but since he's here you gotta explore all options to bring in help this year to attempt a championship run. Next year isn't guaranteed. If the Rockets aren't willing to trade to bring in help for KD, maybe they should explore trading KD.
With the young players and future picks we have, our future is not reliant on KD. We did not pay a win now price for him. I would much rather have him on the team for the next two seasons than Jalen. Hell, I would have given Jalen away for free. So the only long-term asset we sacrificed was the #10 pick 2025 pick. I'll miss Brooks though. If KD helps us go farther in the playoffs the trade is already a win IMO because it'll give the young guys valuable playoff experience. We probably weren't going to get that with Jalen at the helm.
Why does anybody do anything Why did Ime enter that woman Why did Roosh publicly demoralize Felicia Why was Eric not having fun The world just spins on and on
I hate the mentality of, “I don’t think we’re as good as the best team, so we can’t win the title.” In the last 40 years, the odds on favorite to win the title has won it less than half of the time. Second, the Thunder are not the 90s Bulls or 2010s Warriors. They are beatable. Also, none of this accounts for injuries, or, more broadly, luck. That, of course, can just as equally work against it, but it can’t be ignored. At the end of the day, do I think we will win a title this year with KD? Probably not. But he gives us a chance, and that matters a lot.
I still like the trade. FVV getting hurt messed things up more than people want to admit. Not having a true PG in the NBA hurts, who knew.
