After Durant hit the bouncing 3 and Harden's turnover, it was Thunder's ball with over 35 seconds on the shot clock. We could have let Thunder play out the 24 seconds. Remember Thunder shot below 40% for the game, and if we could successfully defend them, we would've have the ball, be down by only 1 with 10 seconds left. Instead we decided to send Fisher to the free throw line to extend the lead to 3. Why did we have to foul on that possession?
Garcia made a mistake. I saw in another thread that Friedman reported that McHale had been trying to call a timeout on the previous Rockets possession to tell them not to foul, but the ref didn't hear him, and the Rockets turned the ball over.
Don't blame Garcia, the entire team was trying to foul. Actually, McHale wanted us to foul, but when the clock ran down to 13 he didn't want to foul. It's a confusing situation to be in.
maybe I missed that part. I saw McHale signaling not to foul and getting pissed when Garcia did. It was a dumb play but it was only one of a few dumb plays we made down the stretch that lost us the game. It was Garcia's fault. But the coach should have a signal that the team knows means foul or don't foul. So in that sense it was McHale's fault.
We collapsed entirely. That Durant three was bull****. But the dumbass Parsons turnover, and Harden's two turnovers after that sealed the deal. This team pisses me off.
Agreed. After coming back from a huge hole and having several careless TOs was unbearable.....not to mention poor FT shootings.
Really, in all this "McFail" promotion What you SAID THERE, is probably EXACTLY in how McHale thinks of his young players most the time. Now we're seeing the frustrations.
McHale surely didnt do is share of good moves, like going with Lin WAY too long. I don't know, seems like Garcia the vet should know better than that.
I just saw the replay and Kelvin Sampson was chopping his arm telling them to foul, but McHale was just standing there not signaling anything. Then when we fouled McHale was saying "No foul". Maybe not saying anything means to not foul? Sampson was definiteley telling them to foul though.
Ironically, the biggest breakdown was by one of the oldest players on the roster in Garcia - although to be fair, this is possibly the only game he has played a sizable role in since he has been in the NBA that has mattered.
I really don't understand why he put Lin back in. After first few minutes, he should see that Lin was in pain and should just bench him for the rest of the game.
