Mo's injury Steve's migraines Hakeem's departure East figured the Rocks out Zone defense Too much small ball! Other possibilities that I left off the poll might be Bull and SA leaving. Rice going down is a wash, since he wasn't here last year and wasn't doing that much for us anyways. There have been a few positives this year, like the emergence of KT and Cato, as well as the promising play of EG, but obviously these couldn't offset the factors above.
Unimaginative offense? Poor execution? No ball movement? Too many turnovers by our point guard? Heck, what HAVEN'T we done to slide from last year?
The east hasn't figured us out, we just let them beat us because we weren't as good as last year. Hakeem's and Shandon's departure did more good then bad. In order of what effected us the most it would have to be: 1. Zone 2. Injuries/Stevie's Migraines 3. Small ball (caused by injuries)
aquiring Rice instead fo getting someone who could produce. We needed something, instead we got a cancer.
a.) primary reason - Maurice Taylor and Steve Francis injuries, Cuttino's injury and playing while injured b.) same gameplan as last year that worked 50% of the time last year working 30% of the time this year for whatever reason c.) playing the innovative 3 guard and/or one corner slow down offense, never seen before in pro ball! One guy dribbles the ball for 15-20 seconds, dribbles into trafffic, gets into situation where he can't pass the ball, puts up a prayer, and in the weird happenstance where they make it, is congratulated by all players on the good play. Bad plays are soon forgotten, look away, look away, look away...
Too bad we can only vote for one: 1) Taylor's injury 2) Dream's departure 3) Francis' injury 4) Zone 5) Anderson's departure
"Injuries." Had Steve not gone out with that foot injury, the team never would have gone on that losing streak, and would likely be on a pace pretty comparable to last year's (0.500 - 0.600)
The zone killed em. Zone helps shooters. Rocks aren't a good shooting team. Simple as that. We will improvise for 2002-2003.
Forget last year, I want to know why the Rockets aren't as good as two years ago, when they won 34 games.
Two years ago the Rockets had an identical frontcourt (Kenny and Kelvin) and a healthy Steve in the backcourt. This team is missing both of our starting forwards, and our superstar has missed nearly half the season. When you're missing 40% to 60% of your starting lineup on a daily basis, you're not usually going to win many games. You guys can blame the system all you want, but the fact remains that we've never had a fully healthy team to use. The closest we were to healthy were in the first seven games, when everyone but Mo played, and we were 5-2. Then, Cuttino turned an ankle, was below 100% for a while, and things started to spiral downward.
