Because they are basically a third world country with no regard to pollution or sanitation in massive scales. Another reason reason for the outbreak is their one government communist bullshit. Garbage government trying to keep this outbreak secret causing massive deaths around the world should lead to when this storm is weathered to place massive sanctions on them to either get their **** together, or be left out in the cold. This has nothing to do with their population but their government. The government has really destroyed any thought they should be trusted.

Yes they have done well with thier great leap forward which lead to 20-40 million deaths. And their belief that they are part of the world leaders world while stifling any news against the government, imprisoning any defectors or "saboteurs", and even going so much as banning Winnie the Pooh and the Great Beard. I don't claim my Empire is not without its faults and massive global problems that get themselves into but I would much rather have an American political system then Chinese communist system. We have massive problems with thier government worldwide which I believe the government is truly one of the worst problems that every other countries face. They steal large amounts of intellectual data and yet pretend submissive while slowing undermining EU and American companies that do business with them. The Chinese government has and never will be our ally. This has nothing to do with the people. Their government should have been sanctioned three years ago by the EU and America coming together but for some reason they didn't.

Quick question, when has America viewed PRC as an ally since it’s establishment? America has always viewed it as an enemy, really why should China view America as an ally?

After this corona virus thing is over, u will see how the Chinese government have been much more efficient at containing it. I was in nz when it broke out, then went back to China for work in late feb, to be honest, the amount of work is unbelievable. To be honest, at this point in terms of the corona virus, I personally would rather be in China than America, at least I can get tested if I get sick

Mao in his last years has done heavy damage.

Cultural revolution set back the country for at least 20 years.

Leaders like Deng Xiao Ping did a lot to mitigate it.

Progress really started at the end of the 80s.

The wet markets are definitely a contributing factor.

Anytime humans and animals mingle there is a risk of disease transfer. When you take a bunch of wild animals of DIFFERENT species and put them in close proximity with humans then that risk sky rockets. Birds and bats are known reservoirs of viruses, and they think that this virus came from a virus in a bat jumping to some other animal and then to humans potentially.

It's interesting given the movie Contagion and how scary accurate it was.

Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for China.

Many countries have wet markets. Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore have wet markets that feature lots of different animals and freshly slaughtered meat. Those countries also have densities along line with the PRC. The difference is that those markets have much better sanitation and are better managed. Overall those countries are healthier, than even Americans. Finally the government of those markets is less corrupt than the PRC.

It's already been mentioned before - but obviously not something Texans can openly acknowledge as they consume the most.

The rising poor in China also demand more feedlot beef which leads to Brazil cutting down the Amazon to make space for this, enticing bacteria to jump from species to humans.

You realize that Russia is the number one importer of Brazilian beef - this seems like another attempt to blame China for a problem.

    the dizzying height of ignorance,

    fyi,
    Over the past 4 decades,

the middle class has been China’s fastest growing demographic, which has risen to be in the 350 M - 490 M range,

The fastest declining one has been the poor

& the Meat of choice, for the typical Chinese citizens, is pork

Another clueless stab at a technicality that misses the mark .. the rising poor become the middle class. How can a grown adult miss that?

By 2016, China exceeded Japan as the number two beef importing country behind the U.S. Chinese beef imports in 2018 are projected to be just 13 percent smaller than U.S. beef imports.

At the current pace, China could be the largest beef importing country in the world in another year or two.

Over 95 percent of Chinese beef imports are sourced from Brazil, Uruguay, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.
